Behind the Scenes

I figured I can periodically share some exclusive behind-the-scenes stuff from analysis videos. Stuff that you YouTube members and patrons may find interesting.

Here are some green screen rooms that were used for the crusher video. The diminishing light in Doom looks cool but sometimes it's hard to chroma key correctly so the light amp goggles are there just in case to lazily enforce only one shade of green which is easier to mask in video editing software.

There are other texture colours available in case the sprite in the room, Baron of Hell's green hands for example, messes with the chroma key.

The teleport destinations are there so I can choose which room to record without having to move around the player start in Ultimate Doom Builder. Also gives me time to input cheats like NOTARGET before teleporting.

Let me know if you'd like to see more.

I think it’s used for more than just the yellow background for the thumbnail. I want to go back and watch the crusher video now and see! *edit it’s for showing the crusher being animated against a back background where he can add text. Very cool

HuH! I hadn't considered that editing DOOM graphics might sometimes be easier to do *in* DOOM than just extracting its raw image data - let alone that you'd basically use real-world greenscreen technology and techniques to get the images and "filming" that you want done. This is very impressive, and thank you for showing us some of your method!

Cool. Green screen... in DOOoom :D I wonder if instead of using green textured walls I wonder if just having a green sky be everything would get around the diminishing lighting. Just end up with a solid green.

I have to rewatch this video now =)

I've got an assortment of coloured textures in case a particular colour doesn't work out e.g Baron's green hands will look funky with green chroma key.

You could've just used a yellow texture to begin with :P. Also, man that vid was long ago, feels like just a few months
