My Trip to Sado (and why I’m here)
Added 2019-08-17 02:28:20 +0000 UTCI’m here in Sado thanks to our support here (THANK YOU) and I wasn’t sure on the story but knew there was one here.
The EARTH CELEBRATION on Sado has been going in since 1988. It it the biggest event on Sado Island and maybe in Niigata.
The story is about KODŌ, a very famous Taiko group that has grown, something hard to do in the arts, making the group more like a brand. The Kodo brand has a soul, and we can see it in the way new members train. They have to all go through a 2 year program that teaches Japanese culture, run by grants from the government. Why do people come to train to be a part of this group, brand? What makes them successful? Why do people travel to this out of the way Island to see them perform? Perhaps we can learn something about the way KODŌ works internally. They have a very strong connection to nature and that connection is heard and seen and felt in their music.
Let’s see if I have to chops to put this one together for you.
