For those thinking of moving to Japan, can you recommend resources for learning how to set up things like finding an apartment, turning on utilities and internet, getting health care and registering with the city where you will live. And how do they accommodate those who don't speak Japanese? (I am open to asking this question via Skype. I have it on now.)

Hello John and everyone here in the community! First of all, sending my deepest sympathy to John and Kanae on Mr Seiichi passing away... Mr Seiichi’s wisdom and kindness are really meant to you 😢 Next huge congratulations on one million subscribers❣️🕺🏻🥳✨ you totally deserve this and you’d get two millions✨👍 I’ve been away for a while came back from Tokyo last week, really need a good catch up on the community and all videos and live-streams on YouTube!! Had a great time in Tokyo with my family but it wasn’t a quite ‘holiday’ kind of duty, needed to be with my fragile mother so couldn’t go or much any exciting. However spending New Year with family in Japan was special and exploring my local ‘Eki mae’ was really fun. So I really liked your recent livestream ‘ekimae’, felt so nostalgic! My local ekimae is ‘Musashi sakai’ JR chu o line. Nothing like Akihabara, Shibuya, Ginza but my local Ekimae has its own charms, some reason there are many boulangerie around the ekimae. My home town Mitaka-Shi is well known for welfare for child care and elderly. John, if you’re thinking about having kids soon, bringing your kids in Mitaka-Shi would be great idea I believe. So please do livestream around Mitaka-Shi, Musashino-Shi (and Jindai Ji too ) next time!! They are really nice area, if you’re thinking about living in Tokyo, just walking around the area! Thank you for the hard work in 2018, wish you more fun, exciting videos and happiness in 2019!! Kiki 😊✌️

Besides water, are there any Japanese drinks that are no sugar, no caffeine, like caffeine-free diet Coke? Inspired by your videos to get to Japan, and am arriving end of February! Sorry to hear about allergy season though, because mine are bad!

On the recommendation of people on John's Patreon page, I used Booking.com and booked hotels in Asakusa for no more than $85/night. Don't know what AirBnB charges or your budget, but these hotels were over 4 stars, great reviews, and have their own sento. Give Booking.com a shot - I am not sponsored by them, just a satisfied customer.

I’ll try to do a meet up at the end of February :) I’m going to start a lot of travel soon and the editing is going to be crazy busy but would be great to meet you too

Really? I didn’t know about this - the mariners coming 🤔

Just a few questions... From what I seem to have found there should be a Chinese Lantern Festival on march 2nd in Yokohama, have you ever seen it and do you think its worth the detour if so? Also I've heard the Miura-Kaigan cherry blossoms should be in bloom late/early feb. Again pretty much the same question! We'll be in Tokyo from the 22nd of feb to the 5th of March, hopefully there might be a chance of a meetup :)

Hi John, any chance of a meet up in Tokyo during the Rugby World Cup? We’re not going to games but it looks like a great time for Japan. Also, any chance of coverage of the Seattle Mariners coming to Tokyo? Since it will be Ichiro’s farewell tour?

Richard Delzer

Hi John. A possible suggestion for a Patreon funded trip would be to go back to the north to Hokkaido and do something about the Ainu people. Also looking forward to a road trip sometime this year. 🚗

Hello John! I'm planning a trip to Tokyo in October and I wonder if you have any local information on the current state of Airbnb in Tokyo? I haven't been able to find any updates since their big announcement in June of last year. I would hate to book something and then have it get cancelled at the last minute. (Hotels in Tokyo are expensive!) Thanks.
