Good question! The Pink Cow has been around FOREVER for expats. It's always a good place to start. WHAT THE DICKENS is a popular pub in Shibuya that long time residents seem to go to. Facebook groups is also a nice place to start.

Not really - only to see if someone else has done it. I'm focused on creating and don't want to compare my work to anyone else. I do watch Life Where I'm From though because Greg's a friend.

Yes, if I can do it in a way different than vloggers. There has to be something new and unique they've missed but I may make it a Patreon sponsored video :) in the spring or early summer.

Hi John, would you do a video on Rabbit (Okunoshima) Island?

Jerry Batorne

Do you watch other japanese v blogs or Japanese theme videos?

What pubs or venues are best meeting new people in Japan? Had poor recommendations so far ..

CityStrider

Not sure - I don't think so because they're different regions. You can try JTB or HIS for tours - they have usually the cheapest price. KINTETSU is another company - and there are dozens more all competing so I think bundled packages will increase in 2019 offering a unique value to experience.

Hey Haz! Thanks for the question! Hmmm ... I'd say the JET program is hard because you'll be speaking English a lot and discouraged from using Japanese as your value to the school is for your non-Japanese-ish! However, there will be a lot of chances to use Japanese outside the school. Learning Japanese is also a way to get the staff at the school to respect you more. Having the respect of your colleagues also helps in any profession. Also, it's always best to have a job in Japan if you can manage. The work culture presents unique situations to learn from and the CULTURE is so much a part of the language. It is very very hard because there are thousands of married foreigners in Japan with visas and they'll always get the job over you if you don't have one. What do you add to a company? You have to ask yourself the honest question because theyre sure to ask you or be thinking that in any interview. Japanese is not essential if you are in certain fields, but it sure helps!

Hello Is there a tourist type rail excursion from tokyo or Kyoto that the regional rail company's run. Something that lasts the day that you may suggest.

Hi John, Haz here. Is the Jet program the best way to get into Japan to learn Japanese or should one just directly get a student visa for a Japanese language course? Are people on student visas allowed to work part time & how feasible is it to get any sort of work with little Japanese speaking capability?

Hazrizal

Hi John, which is better place to see autumn leaves for tomorrow. Kyoto or Kamakura? Thanks, i am having trouble deciding for my last day in Japan.

In Hawaii we eat something called Opihi. It's a limpet that people die from as they or we harvest it. I know Japan has this also on their rocky shores. Why don't they eat it as we do? We love Opihi!

despite the fact that you did not speak Japanese was it difficult to find and rent an apartment, find an insurance company, bank, life insurance. How did you know which company to take?
