The biggest PRO is the flexibility. It’s always available and you can just walk in a get one. There’s also the price and the amenities. Want a massage? They’re affordable. You don’t have to get the capsule - you can upgrade from a lounge chair to one and save money. Obviously there is the location — always in great spots! The CONS: less space, little privacy, possible snorer next to you (earplugs!) some require check out at 10am. If the trip is dependent on capsules, I’d think you’re crazy! Haha!! In a good way. Pack light. Most things can be bought here. They have washing machines, laundromats. Online reservations have discounts :)

According to what he told me 1) he does it to save money. Sometimes the company will give ¥6000 to use for a night and he’ll save 1/2 of it by crashing at a capsule 2) it’s for work. Always out of necessity. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s less comfortable. I don’t think people think about the “fun” but rather relaxing. Great question!

For a lone backpacker. What are the pros and cons of Capsule hotel compare to other accommodation (community hotel, guest house like Airbnb) Do they always available or they have online reservation for foreigner? What should we plan ahead if the whole trip(or most) rely on Capsule hotels? For example lighter luggage? ...Okapi!!

I would like to know, if the stay in the capsule hotel is something he needs to do, because he missed the last train, or if he sometimes stays in the hotel to have some fun and enjoying the man-cave feeling? Thank you :o)
