An Embarrassing Moment

I am usually quite careful with my edits, but I admit there is a lot of cuts to check each episode. In the last episode, there were 15 frames (there are 30 frames in 1 second of video normally) had a body part that shouldn’t be visible - visable. I totally missed this and so did two people who screened the video. *i should have had an advance screening HERE which is something I will do in the future I think*
It was certainly one of the most embarrassing situations I’ve ever had in my life - but it wasn’t because I don’t care about my body so much. I don’t flaunt nudity at people but after 20 years here, it’s just a body. It’s nudity at a bath :) which is normal but not normal for a video platform and some people in conservative cultures. That’s okay but I did feel embarrassed for them. I try to out myself in other people’s shoes and see it from the other side, and I am sure a few people were shocked, not their fault at all. My second feeling was to be upfront and take care of it, more forward and with a solution and get the video up for everyone to learn about Sento.
After, I realized that by confronting it, it is the nudity that is the story, not the sento :( that has disappointed me the most.
It was a no win solution for a mistake.
The video was demonetized but worse, I fear the message of the video and the time I spent to make that episode may go to waste if the public doesn’t watch it and learn about sento. The owners of the baths really looked to me to help them. We won’t know if the video had flopped until a few days later, but there’s nothing east with making a video for other people - you can be a hero or you can disappoint.
There’s no real middle ground.
All in all, even at 43 years old, I’m learning how things work in this complicated world but rest assured the towel will be firmly closed in future shoots! 😂
I’m sure I won’t hear the end of prickly jokes, esp from Peter and other friends here.

It was a perfectly produced video! What is important is you got the message across. =) Having seen all your videos about onsen and now sento, I am very much interested to experience it myself when I get to Japan!. For the record, I liked the video content for what it was - A great insight into Japanese sento bath houses.

On the one hand, there are many in the world who would not care at all about this. On the other hand, there are some who would care, and it is best not to lose them as viewers. In any case, you may have made a mistake, but you corrected it. Life goes on. As long as we learn from mistakes, we are wiser as we carry on.
