(2) The Aogashima video funded entirely by Patreon contributions over the last few months is nearly done. It will be between 10 - 15 minutes long and feature this Jurassic Park like tropical island that belongs to the city of Tokyo. Here's a view from Aogashima Island to Hachijojima Island 70km (43 miles) across the Pacific. Best island stay EVER - and it was in Tokyo!!

2017-09-07 13:27:55 +0000 UTCExcellent questions! I'll answer this in the stream tomorrow and again in a normal ONLY in JAPAN GO episode :) 1) no 2) I didn't learn anything my first 2 years. Everyone spoke English to me when I tired b/c I worked at an English school 3) most learned from self study, learn from books and use it with friends and girlfriends (who couldn't speak English). Old ladies at cafes were also great conversation partners because they didn't charge anything and they were really strict! Most Japanese never correct your mistakes because they don't want to seem rude but it means you don't know where you're problems lie and you get into bad habits. I wasn't conversational until about my 7th year here, after my first hitchhiking trip and after I established and registered my own company here. Will be fun to talk about this in more detail!
