Kill 'Em with Cupcakes! (Or chocolate chip cookies)
Added 2018-07-31 17:41:42 +0000 UTC(Note: If you haven't listened to my latest episode yet, you might want to do so now - otherwise this post won't make much sense.)
I decided to take my friend's advice and try baking for the new neighbors.
Can't hurt, right?

My daughter did a great job following the directions - and MOST of the chocolate chips actually made it into the dough!

Then it was time for delivery.

We went from house to house, passing out plates of cookies. We chatted with neighbors we already knew and introduced ourselves to neighbors we hadn't met yet. They all seemed a bit surprised to have us show up with baked goods (maybe people just don't bake for their neighbors anymore?), but not in a bad way.

I think we made a good start at sowing goodwill in our new neighborhood. Fingers crossed it keeps going our way!
So what should we bake next? And I'm curious: Do you bake for your neighbors? (My mother and grandmother certainly did, but maybe we're all too busy these days and the tradition is dying out.)
If you do bake for your neighbors, what do you bake? I'd love to get your recipe. (Especially if it's simple!)
In case you're curious, here's what we baked:

Thank you for the support, Michelle! And maybe it's time to try baking for the neighbors? Ours really seemed to like it! If you do, please let me know how it goes. I hope you and your partner get the warm reception you deserve!

We have a rainbowed flag raised but not a pride flag. Our neighbors mostly ingore each other and us. We have thought delivering of baked goods despite the fact we've lived here 2.5 years now. Your latest podcast really spoke to my heart. Happy to be a new supporter. It's been in my mind awhile now. Glad to help in even a small way.
