Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE E5

Comments

Everything that went down with Manon shows fairness is never a consideration when the bottom dollar is the priority for a corporation (and I have no real with issue with how Manon handled it all to tell you the truth.. she’s young and a bit airy fairy, got dragged into it all without ever having had the desire in the first place, probably spent her whole life with advantages due to her pretty privilege and didn’t know anything else, and I have no doubt the message being conveyed to her the entire time was that she was a lock for the group. I sort of don’t blame her for trying to coast and get away with it. She just lacked the insight that taking that approach would alienate her from the girls who might become her group mates). I think it was a hard life lesson for all the girls involved.. the industry isn’t ever going to be fair, the most talented people aren’t the ones who will be most successful, the hardest workers aren’t guaranteed to be chosen. At their age the reality of that would have absolutely scandalised me and bred so much resentment if I was a trainee who was giving it my all. Absolutely sucked for someone like Adela who did all the right things and had the talent to back it up, but girl is thriving now and I think the elimination only fuelled her desire and creativity, I really think she’s the next big thing and might end up even bigger than Katseye. Even what went down with letting Naisha go… I think if she had been one of the top choice trainees they would have kept her, but if she was on the chopping block it was an easy way to eliminate her. If she hadn’t actually breached the NDA I think they might have kept her and given her another shot. Just another example.. the rules are flexible depending on who will make them the most money. I think it happens all the time in the Kpop and even western entertainment industry but this doco just made it painfully obvious.

Also with Manon situation, I just feel like it was partly on her but mostly on the producers like from the very beginning, they give her preferential treatment and private lessons. She didn’t have like the life or death evaluations like the other girls which signaled to her that she would debut regardless. I just feel like she should have like worked doubly hard to at least compensate for that unfairness. The fact that on top of that, the other girls had to see her not even put in as much work, just made things even harder for them to accept, and they did say they told her they were upset to her face so even though she wasn’t there, it wasn’t a mob moment. Her fans also claim that manon not making it wouldn’t have secured their spots which fair but also thats one less spot in the group yk? Especially considering that they were blindsided by popularity votings which relied on the exact way hybe scouted manon. I understand manon too tho bc she probably knew they rightfully felt that way so it would have been awkward to be there you know? Overall I blame hybe more than anything for putting them all in this position.

im so glad y’all just turned off as i was by the way this all went down like if they wanted it to be a popularity contest, they should’ve presented it as such from the get-go and not have people busting their asses off just to be voted off by an audience that doesn’t even know anything. and to this day the fandom hates on the girls who were rightfully bitter about how things played out. although tbh i am not surprised considering this was produced by hybe lol like u can really tell the difference between this and the xg documentary, like bang pd himself said, for him it’s not about skills but star quality and this shallowness is also reflected in the fandoms. for example fans finding illya “mature” is just really code for old and this ageist culture is prevalent even in active idols especially female ones. unfortunately these are businesses and this feeds into their decision making. i just wish they hadn’t strung people along.

Those were the half time results not the final results and the ones they told us and eliminated were the final results for the fan voting

Mysterious

I voted for Manon Samara Lara and Nayoung. Was making sure my brown girlies made it to the end!

Jah

The silence after the elimination reveal was so real😭😭cause why did I tear up and this ain’t even my first time watching. Those girls were truly taken aback and were not expected to get so close only to watch eachother get sent home one by one!! Like that’s crazy when u really think abt it

Brooklynn Turner

maybe its just me but i feel like the other angle to why Manon (and Samara) were popular is because they were black girls. People wanted a black girl to make it

PLEASE! CHeck out adela's solo work. That girl is a star and you will not regret reacting to her music.

Ive been going for Emily since i saw she was on here. Ive been watching her dance since she was like 8. She is literally in the same dance videos as Jade Chynoweth. To me she was like Jades twin. I think for Emily to debut it would have to be with Lexie and Ezrela for sure.

Leequay

sorry for the incoming long comment but i hope this gives more insight to the initial fan votes. so first off emily was in my top from JUMP her dance and presence was undeniable, same with megan. and it bugged me so much that people watching did not see their potential. as someone who experienced this all live, you HAVE to keep in mind that all the things we see in the documentary we had NO knowledge of. so literally the only thing we knew of adela was her showcase in that challenge and lets keep it a buck she just did not shine in that video, idk if you can chalk it up to editing but megan daniela and ua SHINED. whereas comparitively emily was ranked on the lower end too but because she got so much light in her dance video it saved her from being rock bottom. we never got to see much of their personalities, work ethic so we literally could only go off of the performance itself and also external factors. unfortunately some shallow viewers went off of visuals. as for manon, you guys will see more as it goes into the doc but there is a lot of evil editing going on and i feel like it made it seem way worse than it actually was. plus by the teachers and trainers not nipping it in the bud early on, cause like yall peeped... they seem nonchalant about things while also making it a point to say manon wasnt doing anything lol. BTW NOT SAYING SHE DID NOTHING WRONG cause girlie def was not locked in at first but yeah. i do really wish the doc came out with the survival show it would be so different.

Hunter-Teri

since we all have emotional attachments to adela, you guys should react to her solo songs like SUPERSCAR, when mitra said “we see adela as a solo artist”, adela proved them wrong with her music video, she truly didnt need them

luv_kxsey

my mission one votes were daniela, megan, manon, lara, nayoung, and sophia. basically most of the final group💀

Heaven

Yeah a lot of people didn’t understand manon’s mindset but she really was just putting her own wellbeing first instead of letting the program pressure her especially after Son told her she doesn’t have to strive to be the best. and it’s also a difference in cultures too becuase Switzerland is known for their unique work life balance and prioritizing the importance of having time to yourself, the complete opposite of what was expected from her in the program. So with all of that it really rubbed me the wrong way becuase it seemed like nobody tried to understand her point of view and instead got upset with her and talked behind her back + missy implying that Manon was arrogant… the survival show phase really brought out the nasty in some of those girls…

Mickey

In terms of what warrants getting kicked out of the Program, what Naisha did (leaking an urealesed song) and what Manon is doing aren't really compareable in terms of severity, Naisha broke the NDA, and they hadn't even went public yet.

@MY_Peak

Okay but now you guys need to watch Adela solo stuff cause machine girl and superscar eats down. She’s thriving

imran alishah

As far as Manon is concerned, I'm almost sure they didn't adequately explain expectations to her? And there has to be a certain level of undisclosed to the public voluntary participation vs. mandatory if they let it rock for that long without any concrete consequences, like you said (but other girls were just that committed). But Manon is on record saying that she was under the impression that it was like school, in a sense; by the time she realized the impact of her absence is when she got sick and certain opinions were already formed. (I've never watched DA or this show so I'm only going off of your reactions and post-show info I already knew about.)

Bria A.

this ep me broke but im so proud of her solo work please react to superscar

hibba nuru

Ahhhh okay this make sense BUT STILL CRAZY

TheExecs

idk if it adds on anything but you guys were viewing at 58:46 the half-time results of mission 1(it's in the header of the ranking) it was literally day 1 after the the voting opened... so the full results weren't in, and once the full results were in, Adela was still the 20th

@MY_Peak

My top votes while watching were; Nayoung, Lara, Sophia, Daniella, Megan and marquisse

Karum

Oh i knew yall were gonna be mad about #her elimination…cause during the show we didn’t get any behind the scenes stuff besides some short vlogs. All we got were the perfs. Based off of that i didn’t care for her BUT after watching the documentary i definitely think she should have made it to round 2 at least…

Kkaenji Xox

lets gooooooooooooooooo

Mazerrun

For round 1 i voted the entire Still Into You team + Manon

Kkaenji Xox
