But I have to agree, the Nivea products in Japan are way better than what I've experienced in other countries. They just seem more gentle on the skin compared to the western equivalent ones. I'm assuming the ingredients are different or altered by country?

Bottle disposal areas are pretty rampant near vending machines and train stations. And at least in Tokyo there's quite a bit of trash cans that you need to segregate biodegradable and non-biodegradeable trash. You don't see it often in residential areas though.

Maybe Joe already mentioned it in the past (and maybe he didn't want to repeat himself) but it's a really interesting story. A cult released a deadly gas in the Japan subway system that killed a lot of people and some of the bags containing the toxic substance was found hidden inside trash cans. So the Japanese government decided to get rid of trash cans in certain locations across Japan so it would not happen again.
