2022-04-08 19:06:08 +0000 UTCThe thing that drives me crazy is the revolving door of politics. A cabinet member is chosen and they have 20 years of working on the board of Goldman Sachs. And wouldn't you know it? They decide to legislate in favour of GS! And then after 4 years they leave politics and get re-hired at GS with a massive signing bonus and higher salary but is it a reward for boosting the profits? Of course not! Then there is the politician who after 30 years of carrying water for lobbyists, gets involved in a scandal, resigns to "spend time with their family" and gets hired by that same lobbyist firm on the understanding that they will still have their top security clearance and private phone numbers of active politicians. The generals who push for wars in middle east and award Defence contracts to Boeing and other massive contractors, only to "retire" to a board member job in those same companies. Meanwhile the annual defence budget goes up every year but the actual troops who are dying in the never ending wars are making only $19k a year.
