In my new york school it was 1 building 4 floors, 5 High schools. All indoors. Fenced in and metal detectors for all but employees. It was like going to the airport every morning. My school was on the 1st floor. The 1 gym is on the 1st floor and the 1 Caffeteria was on the 4th. I snuck out for pizza alot and would argue with security to get back inside because I was not going up too the 4th for shity food.

I went to elementary school in Chicago. All indoors except the playground. Indoor halls, to get to the gym/cafeteria, to the administrative office, the library, you didn’t leave the building. Makes sense for indoor hallways because there’s tornados and cold winters. Then I spent late elementary through high school in Northern California, and it was a new world to me where you would literally walk outdoors to get to your next class.

I went to 2 very different high schools in Ontario, Canada. My first year was in a high school with 2 buildings and the parking lot was between them, each building had its own gym and 2 floors. Which was a pain in the ass going from the top floor of one building to the top floor of the next building in less than 5 mins. Then I moved to a newer high school that was right beside a forest, which a lot of kids smoked weed in lol we would also go for runs through the forest for gym class sometimes, the hills were so steep.

My school when It was warm we could walk through little plaza like areas to get to class but other than that, you are inside all the time except for the elementary (k-5) for recess (I'm in Michigan)

Haha the only time I saw outdoor schools were in the movies. We also had classroom trailers for some of the elective classes (east coast)

Also for tiffs thing I think a big part was school safety. Ie tornados and such. I think the more open schools was a safer way to exit the building for earthquakes

went to a boarding school in Canada. The main building on campus was a big Z shaped building. The Gym, classrooms, offices etc were in that building. Luckily, each classroom had big windows so it wasn't dark. Then we had separate a building for the dorms and cafeteria. Then another building just for the auditorium and art classes. Don't get me wrong our campus looked good but it was annoying when you'd have to go from building to building especially in the winter. I would've loved to go to a school that was just one building.

In Las Vegas every high school has the same building template so if you go to one you know how to get around the other, and a lot of it is walking outside which was always odd to me cause Las Vegas is really hot

i live in NYC. one whole building is your school. no going outside. at least where i went they didn’t trust us enough to let us go outside or else we wouldn’t come back. gym and cafeteria are inside. we did have big windows but it was still always dark. all the bottom floor windows had those safety gate thingies i forgot what you call those. you get used to it tho. we live in shoe boxes here so not much different 😂

To answer some of Tiffs questions: I’m in Georgia but grew up in NC. The schools there and here are pretty much the same. It looks like a small College campus. The gym is usually a separate building, some classes have windows, unless your school is in a rough place there aren’t bars, and pretty much all the cafeterias are almost completely surrounded by giant windows.
