I have never worn Chinese clothes before in my 37 years of living in Canada. It's not really offensive but it's not like I like it either.

Also, nothing wrong with growing with the time, plus racial stereotyping is maybe not the best way to go when it comes to children's books anyway. Wouldn't anyone rather have their children read books where, if from marginalized groups, they are shown in a nice non-stereotypical way instead of an out-dated caricature?

Even people who wore that hat dressed in a more western fashion and I think those hats were worn by workers.
