I do agree with Joe because children might find it relatable but also informative for the parents. And we also have to keep in mind that this is a foreign film and not an American history documentary.

the thing is that it were full grown adults that were behind the movie making preteens act and dance that way to have them appear sexy, so nothing about this film was okay. i didn't watch it myself because i don't want to give them coin, but i did see a review and some blogs talking about it and they said that the main girl even took nudes/pics of her cooch. a pre-pubescent kid. taking cooch shots. also the amount of crotch shots that were taken when the girls were dancing, sexily.. it's just all disturbing.

The fact that this isn't a coming of age movie FOR children, but is instead a movie that sexualizes children but children can't watch it is what's weird for me.

I guess the movie is the grey area of discovering oneself through contemporary present time. Haven't watch the movie and Netflix's poster might have been why. But I diffidently discover my sexual tendencies around the same age. I definitely was young when I gander at women differently has a prepubescent teen. It's difficult to say it's wrong in context of growing up, but it's diffidently creepy if adult's are sexually arouse by younger kids. I feel something went wrong the in presentation of this movie. I might have to watch this movie to have a better idea.

This actually happens a lot everywhere in the dance scene specifically in the choreography competition scene.. It's kinda disturbing that studios allow kids dance troupes to dance provocatively.. They brand the competition category as hiphop/streetdance and lump it in there. One brings a bad name to real streetdance and hiphop and two normalizes the disturbing dancing. Nothing wrong with adults dancing that way, but definitely not kids and the exposure.

The poster is a big wtf. Also, the full trailer seemed like they were trying to show how dysfunctional the family was for preventing their daughter from being sexually objectified in a way. They made it look like a coming of age story, where I'm assuming the end would include the family coming to term with her passion for "dance". The other thing is that she's supposed to be from a muslim family, and thats why they're super conservative and against it. I'm muslim a lot of people dance but this is just a big no. No person in their right mind no matter the religion would think sexualizing a little girl like that is okay. The idea is very real and does touch on an important subject but it could've been told better.
