Talking "Both Sides" (ft. Mike Tornabene)

By not voicing your stance is one voice less. It matters. If everyone chose to stay silent, we would be still burning witches. Thankfully people like Mike understand. Everything just needs to be done with respect instead of negativity. No passive aggressiveness, like this video, Mike was embedded in his ideals and fought for it diplomatically, everyone responded very well. Transparency is extremely important too. Being open and honest will go a long way.

Great episode

Everyone was respectful and not passive aggressive doesn’t seem that big of a deal to me

Great episode, glad it made Patreon!

This was a great way to approach the topic, one of the least controversial videos on jk. As an international fan, most of the content and media I consume is influenced by those 10% from each side. It does seem like there are sides to take and rules to follow, and in order to keep up I've had to educate myself and stay informed on US politics. It feels like my views on these issues have to align with which ever influencer/celebrity I'm following, I can no longer simply follow someone for their art. With all the BLM stuff I chose to speak up and have a conversation, because its a human rights issue and there was a lot to help with while being in a different part of the world. But with some other issues, I'm stuck because sometimes you follow two people on social media and they'll have opposing views. Also, although I've never been cancelled for anything offensive being active on social media does require me to educate myself on those topics. Everyone around the world has to conform and learn the American way, it has taken over all our media and entertainment.

This wasn’t controversial in the slightest. You all expressed yourselves great and didn’t have to insult either side. A lot of valid points were made and it was a dope example of how these conversations can be had.

If you’re not willing to give the time and energy to talk to someone about a “touchy” subject because you feel you won’t make a change, you’re part of the problem. Having a conversation with someone on a topic of which you already both agree on is pointless. There’s no growth happening. We need to talk to people outside our circles to better understand the other side and what sort of compromises could be done or find out whose idea is the more logical one . NOT talking about it is the biggest factor as to why nothing’s gonna change, you’ve already given up. No one wants to talk about the important things because they feel they already know what’s best when they haven’t even heard from all sides. “They’re not ready for that conversation,” is a cop out. Even if you feel as though it’s going nowhere, inevitably a solution will come out of it. People can change, some are just more stubborn than others.

No no no Casey that’s fucking racist don’t let up it is so so wrong

It's intent vs. impact. Soemtimes, the best intent can have harmful impact.

How is this not on youtube? Youtube guidelines are confusing.

Honestly, they’re a bit over dramatic sometimes. Lmao

I agree with joe that it’s just how some peopl are gonna be and it’s a waste of time convincing them otherwise. Having an open-mind to discussion and listening is what Jk has taught me over the years and I’m gonna continue to follow that

i know some people dont even want to talk things through though because its a touchy subject. you don't grow from it but can you blame em for not wanting to start somethin

This is a good conversation. I feel like JK already has a conversation and platform where you guys discuss hard topics and throw out ideas that go against the grain. Personally for me, you guys have influenced my thoughts a lot. Not necessarily so much that I don't do my own research or have my own thoughts, but you've opened my mind to new ideas. Ideas that I didn't even know existed. But, I think it's something you cultivated overtime and you guys have normalized it in a way that us viewers can get behind. Unfortunately, creating a new platform similar to JK may be hard during these testy times. Because we would need a variety of people with different ideas who are able to have rational conversations that attract people without completely insulting or dismissing their views. That's hard. If there are people out there like that, then I'll embrace it.

Also, compare to some of the OFF THE WALL SHIT Bart and Joe have said before, this was absolutely fine. Haha.

I'm glad the team decided to keep this video. It's a good conversation that honestly reflects some of my own feelings being an person who's in the middle. Unfortunately, it's not a conversation that I can have with maybe 90 percent of my friends and relatives because of the way may hold firm to their beliefs and values. So this was refreshing, in a way. It's hard to approach the context that some things may be straightforward, but some others aren't so black and white. For a long time, I have felt that both "parties" are really one. It's line playing flag football when I was in HS where the only difference was when one group of kids played red shirts and the other would play blue shirts until they switched over at the end if the round. So it all ends up being the same.

I thought the situation with Kev and Tahir was sad, especially considering they have said and done things that are just as bad as JK and that they still work with/for people who are actual bad people.

Candidly, don't know why that video would have been considered "controversial" enough where you considered deleting it, but, given the hypersensitive environment we're in right now in this country, and the recent efforts of the "cancel culture" mob to have JK ostracized, KevOnStage and Tahir having to bend the knee and sever ties, and the onslaught against Nikki and Steve, I understand why you're being extremely cautious. Great conversation overall and enjoyed the video.
