A dog was actually a great idea! I remember you guys did a video of a kid with autism and his dog was trained to help him from hurting himself. And the boy loves the dog and the dog was so good! Most children respond so we'll with animals. Our school district has therapy dogs and it has helped so much in our area. The dogs walk the halls, have a therapy room, and help kids that need it. They also are there just for kids to pet when having a bad day. It's amazing.

What Tahoe said at around 11:10 about using the room as a calm down point was, to me, extremely ground breaking 😂😂 that shit had me like.. hold the tuck up! He’s so right!!

I would be OK with this as long as the rooms are monitored with cameras. Even better if they had their own staff.

My little sister is autistic and it’s nerve wrecking every morning to get her to class, and out of school. She’s constantly throwing tantrums, and having issues in class. But she’s still unable to communicate thoroughly for us to understand what type of day she had at school. Imagine having no idea what it’s like for your sibling, child, cousin, etc at school because they can’t communicate it. If I think about it too much it’ll break me, because she needs that type of attention. And I just have to have faith in the system for it to work out. It more than likely will, but it’s a frustrating process to deal with schools and anything that comes to her care. I just wish there were better ways to make sure everything is going good in her day. Btw Joe, autistic kids are incredibly strong, my little sister is solid as concrete, she hardly gets knocked over or anything, maybe they have strong cores? Idk I haven’t really looked into it

From an outside perspective this does sound sad and cruel, I really didn’t know until I lived it myself how bad tantrums can get. I work in a special needs elementary classroom, mainly with autistic children. When one of our 8 year olds had a tantrum it took 2 of us to restrain him so he wouldn’t hurt himself or other kids, he still managed to bite one. I was working in a middle school last year, one of our kids became upset and started throwing desks around, he was a 7th grader; it took 2 security guards, 2 classroom aides, 2 teachers and the principal to catch and restrain him so he wouldn’t hurt others. He was throwing punches, spitting and he basically destroyed the whole classroom, we had to evacuate the rest of the kids through the back door, and although they didn’t express it verbally you could tell they were all scared. It’s really sad and we are trained to de escalate verbally and try to calm them down but sometimes it gets out of hand and they need to be restrained for their own safety and those around them.

Truthfully i dont see a problem. Maybe these kids need a short break from a stimulating environment as long as under the supervision of a therapist

Idk, my cousin has autism and he can do some damage. Have to call the cops to hand cuff him. My grandma told us a crazy story. I don’t know if it’s true. But basically she ran outside for safety and he walked outside towards her. She told him to stay back. He walked up to her and said “whatcha going to do about it?”... my cousin -can’t really talk. I think she exaggerated it. But I do know when he gets mad at you, you have to evacuate the area. He’s 6.2ft at about 220-260lbs.

Are there therapists in the schools to help? I'm not talking about 1 or 2 but obviously we need more considering or taking the lead with students like this especially if there was a whole team
