Chapter 55 - Revenge.

“So, did you come up with any ideas?”

After spending some time thinking, Isaac gave up on waiting and asked. We talked about the dungeon, but I came to the conclusion that going there now is impossible. I don’t want to go to that place.

Besides, there’s nothing there. If I went, it would only be to pretend I was looking for something.

Because of that, I started thinking of another solution. Is there any other place in this world that might have something hidden—something that could help me with this? Is there some kind of magic I could try to create, like magic that allows you to cross universes?

No, that’s out of the question.

“No, I didn’t come up with anything.”

“Then you have to do it! Go to the dungeon. I already told you—there might be something inside! That place is mysterious, right? No one has ever reached the bottom.”

“Who told you that?”

“It’s just an assumption. Isn’t it extremely deep and dangerous? I don’t think anyone has reached the bottom.”

“Some people have reached the bottom before.”

“Seriously? Ah, but maybe they didn’t search properly. Maybe something was created inside the dungeon after I came to this world! That could have happened!”

Wait… he might be right. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a soul from another world. That’s never happened before.

It’s possible that something changed in the dungeon the moment he arrived in this world.

This system… all this strange training I do almost every day… all of it is new and only started existing after he arrived here.

Did the dungeon change too?

But Ryuu never said anything about the dungeon undergoing any changes.

“You might be right…” I said, placing a hand on my chin. “Now I’m curious to see what might have changed inside that place.” That dungeon had never been interesting to me before.

Something interesting might happen if I go there…

For some reason, I’m starting to feel excited.

I don’t usually get excited easily.

“So, have you decided?”

“Yes, I want to go there. But how am I supposed to do that? It’s impossible to go to Orario without being noticed. I have a magic that can change my appearance, but I don’t think that alone is enough.”

“Why do you hide yourself so much?”

“Are you an idiot? Did you forget that one of those gods tried to kill me?”

“They tried to kill you, but they failed. You’re strong—stronger than ever. Are you afraid?” Isaac smiled. “I don’t think you need to be. The god who tried to kill you wouldn’t be stupid enough to attack you.”

“I think you’re right.”

They tried to kill me from the shadows. They managed to poison me somehow. One of the elves who lived by my side at the time probably helped them. Is that elf dead now?

They might be living alongside the god who tried to kill me…

‘…If the person who poisoned me lived by my side back then, that person must now be living with the god who caused all of this…’ Elves live for a very long time. That elf is certainly still alive.

Ah, what a headache.

“I’ve noticed that I’m not as concerned with revenge as I should be lately…”

“Well, you’re alive and you’re having fun, aren’t you? There’s no reason to seek revenge.” Isaac said with a smile.

I felt like punching him.

Huff~~

I let out a sigh and then said, “I’m leaving now. I’ll think about what to do. Stay resting there for now.”

“You could talk to me more often. It’s very lonely here.”

“I’ll think about it.”

No, I definitely don’t want to talk to you more often.

POV: Fern

“Do you really have to go? Why don’t you stay a little longer?” Tiona asked while looking at me. I had been taking advantage of her kindness for some time now, so I started treating her a bit better.

Like a sister.

Beside me, Ryuu slapped my back lightly, encouraging me to get closer to Tiona.

“I’m sorry, but I really have to go now.” I stepped closer and opened my arms.

With tears in her eyes, Tiona approached me and hugged me.

Tione, who had been watching us, crouched down and looked into my eyes. “Listen carefully. If the elves don’t accept you, or if you don’t like it there, you can come back, okay? Ryuu, you’ll bring her back if necessary, right?”

“Of course. Don’t worry.” Ryuu smiled.

I hugged Tione as well, and when I stepped back, I lowered my head in gratitude. “I hope I get to see you again someday,” I said, averting my gaze. It’s hard to say something like that directly.

“Shall we go, then?” Ryuu asked.

I nodded, and with my small backpack on my back, I began walking toward the outside of Orario.

I’ve gone out before, but never very far. Will everything really be okay? I’m starting to feel a little nervous.

“What’s wrong? Are you nervous?”

“A little. I’ve never gone far before. Are you sure nothing will happen?”

“Hmmm… I can’t promise anything.”

“…”

“Don’t worry. At worst, some idiot thief might show up. I’m strong enough to deal with them easily. I’m strong, you know?”

“Yes, I know.”

I started to feel a lot of confidence in Ryuu as soon as we left the city.

The journey will be long and tiring, since I can’t run like Ryuu—and unfortunately, we don’t have horses.

After a few hours of traveling, I looked back and could still see the tower. It looked very close.

“This is going to take a long time, isn’t it?” I asked while drinking some water.

Ryuu laughed and said, “You wanted to travel, didn’t you? Now you’ll have to endure it.”

Huff~~

I sighed and looked at my shoes, dirty with soil.

Then I looked at the huge tree in the distance.

'Let’s keep going. I need to get there as soon as possible.'

Even without knowing what will happen, I want to arrive there as quickly as I can.
