The Apothecary Diaries, S.1, Ep.2 - Chilly Apothecary

Holy "hard-on," Batman! This anime got dirty (in a good way) quick!

I cannot stand how much I enjoy this show and it's only episode 2!

The fact that Maomao has been testing poisons on herself for so long that she is immune to most of what can make you sick is so cool! ...and the testing on her ARMS?! AHHH!

There is something so refreshing about seeing a female character being able to cure mysterious ailments and create concoctions.

Chocolate!!!

Sawzar

Poison taster is role for which her skillset is extremely well suited, even if her body's built up tolerance counteracts that somewhat as her inner monologue stated and because of the danger involved in the job you are compensated accordingly whilst still being somewhat expendable. Also as others have said, remember that Maomao grew up in a environment with a far more pragmatic attitude towards sex and sensuality, where being knowledgeable is both a form of protection and valuable as a commodity, which makes her perspective justifiably perhaps even a little cynical and jaded despite her youth. Also beyond the Verdigris House in the red-light district, the main setting of the show is the Rear Palace which houses the Emperor's harem, hardly a place where a prudish mindset would be advantageous. There's a lot more nuance and background with Maomao's character, worldview & personality to explore but it's all stuff you'll gradually learn in time. Oreos are okay by themselves if a little dry/powdery in terms of texture without the filling but I much prefer how UK Cadbury's do milk chocolate bars that have crushed Oreo inner contents (though it wouldn't quite be considered proper chocolate in the EU, as legally Milk Chocolate must contain at least 25% total cocoa solids, including a minimum of 14% dry milk solids). I have a soft spot more for Swiss chocolate slightly over Belgian, Lindt/Lindor is my biggest weakness, though it's also almost impossible to go wrong with Hotel Chocolat. Will post up a bunch of Aina recommendations for you to choose from, her sound can really vary depending upon the material, but even before you deep dive into her back catalogue it's pretty clear that Sheena Ringo & Bjork are some of her more obvious artistic/vocal influences. Speaking of Silent Hill, you've yet to hear any songs featuring her deranged creepy Japanese horror voice.
