kokeshi - 胎海 (Fetal Sea)

This is performance art within the music industry.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea and may be harder for some people to get through with how the vocals are done, but I think the way the song is harder to follow for some because of the form. Let me know what you think!

As far as performance art goes, yes, their live performances (the couple I have seen on their yt channel) are stunning, especially from the vocalists side. She sounds and looks like she is possessed (she actually sounds pretty close live to what is recorded here). It's actually the live footage which made me get their albums a year or so ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNH29dTJa_k -> good view of her performance, not so great audio, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhoMf2hDfHY -> better audio quality and a good idea of the performance art part but the vocaist isn't as much in view). I used to listen to mainly metal (for guitar based music), for about 20 years (so let's say the early 2000's until 2020 when I discovered Japanese rock/mnetal) including a lot of extreme metal, especially black metal. The faster parts here are basically black metal (I think they describe themselves as Blackgaze/Hardcore), the high screams are more screamo/hardcore and remind me of the very first female harsh vocalist I ever seen live. It was in a squathouse probably in the late '90's or early 2000's. A friend of mine invited us there (she used to go there a lot) and it was a concert by the squatters (who had a ska/punk band) and a screamo/hardcore band from Germany or Switzerland. I had never seen/heard anything like that in my life and was somewhat overwhelmed but I got a couple of their tracks from their website (those were the days) and got used to it after a while. It's absolutely still not something I will casually listen to, but I have given their albums a couple of listens since the time I got them and they are certainly worth checking out more. Btw, if you want a female vocalist (also old-school) with an amazing deep growl, you can check out the band "Thorr's Hammer", a US Death/Doom Metal band with a Norwegian vocalist (Runhild Gammelsæter) who studied in the US at the time for her PhD. I think they only were around for a couple of weeks and only had 1 EP (in 1998 a couple of years after the band split), but her vocals are really good, especially for someone who basically did that in her spare time. They did a couple of one-off reunion concerts over time, which might be a better shout because the oldest recordings sound really poor (because 1995 fancams and the type of music they play, which tends to distort the mic as it's very bass heavy). This recording is a bit newer, although the track doesn't seem to be complete but on the others you can't hear her vocals well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4vLzXzgkkc), Norge is probably their best showpiece. For reference, this one is a full show from 1995: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T87XMnzdvrs
