If you watched the 50,000 subscriber livestream a couple of weeks ago, I spent a few minutes checking a betamax tape that, if labeled correctly, was a genuine "white whale" of mine. Well, of course, it was labelled correctly. So, as I mentioned in the livestream, I'd do a more involved (or some might say, self-indulgent) discussion of the special...and here it is.
And, before you ask, I hadn't planned on posting this one due to some major-label songs that appear throughout the program (plus clips from existing streaming & DVD-available specials), which I'm all but certain will get the video blocked.
And, yes, the transfer used in this video was an especially quick-and-dirty one so I could reference the material here. At some unspecified point, I'll give this one a proper transfer.
Next week should be a double-header. If all goes according to plan, it will be another discussion-type video AND the first Public Domain Theatre livestream of 2025, with a special guest host. The film will be what is generally considered the first great Western--"Hell's Hinges" (from 1916).
