No new OA this week. Livestream postponed.
Added 2025-01-29 15:24:14 +0000 UTCThis week was supposed to be a livestream to mark OA hitting 50,000 subscribers, but I'm gonna have to push it back to next week. If you saw the "State of the Archive" video at the beginning of the month, I mentioned that I've had a recurring (brutal) cold. Well, I managed to go about a month where I seemed to "break the spell" for the most part (save for a dodgy day here and there). Over the span of Sunday and Monday, it all made a comeback, and, well, I don't much of a voice right now. To boot, my father took a fall overnight Monday-going-into-yesterday. Over the course of the morning yesterday, his movement got more limited and more painful, so I wound up taking him to the ER fearing a fractured hip. Turns out, it was a bruised rib and...lots of bruising in general. Got him recovering right now. So, in short, just not in a position to do much at the moment.
On a somewhat sunnier note, just before falling into this old trap again, I managed to do the host segments and voiceovers for this first new, regular OA episode of the year. Initially, it was going to be "Comedy Central Networkisms", but I found myself going down a (I think) more interesting rabbit hole with the events that led up to the launch of the network, so it's gonna be "Prehistoric Comedy Central". It's gonna be a long editing process for this one, so I'm hesitant to truly pin down a release date. February 13th (12th here on Patreon) is looking the most realistic right now.
So, we'll set the 50K subscriber livestream for Friday, February 6th. If all goes to plan, there will be a special Public Domain livestream at the end of February with a guest host.

2025-01-29 17:23:29 +0000 UTCThanks for the update. Man, I’m sorry to hear you’re still sick. This seems to be that time of the year for that to happen to you. Also, my heart goes to you and your family. My mom had a bad fall last year that broke 5 of her ribs. They had to put a plate in her back to keep it from puncturing her lungs. She healed quickly but her dementia exacerbated due to the hospital stay. She’s functioning but her memory is fading, bit by bit. I’ll do my best to jump in the livestream but if you ever need to vent or talk, you can hit me up
