Oddity Archive: Episode 286.2 – Archive Thrifting #33: Christmas Clutter (+ Annex Posts)
Added 2024-12-11 14:51:01 +0000 UTCTime for our annual Christmas thrifting expedition...which, admittedly, didn't quite pan out this year. Nonetheless, I was able to ultimately stitch together footage from five stores to get this one over the finish line.
Also, I suppose this would be as good a time as any to deliver this year's December TV commercials that I found over the year. Only got one confirmed batch this time out.

Some observations about the rack of Christmas DVDs at 9:30 or so. I have that Nine Dog Christmas DVD. It has an interesting idea and decent animation and art, but in the end it's just your standard "Let's Save Christmas" plot. Fine enough for kids, or if one is into obscure cheesy Christmas cartoons like me. "Yes Virginia" originally aired on CBS as a Macy's tie-in for some holiday letter writing promotion. I think I have the broadcast recorded on tape or DVD-R somewhere. "Hoops and Yoyo Ruin Christmas" is apparently decent and is based on a series of Hallmark cards, but I've haven't had the chance to see it yet. It looks quite different from Hallmark's usually sappy output.
