Chapter 34: I am the half brother of Meredith Grey

"Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!"

"What's going on?" Spencer asked, groggily getting out of bed. He couldn't fathom who could be visiting and aggressively knocking at his door so late in the evening.

"Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!"

As he went out of his bedroom, he immediately noticed his sister Carly emerging out of her own room as well, having a look of annoyance etched across her face. "Why is someone at the door during this time?" she grumbled.

"I have no idea," Spencer replied, rubbing the back of his head and stifling a yawn.

Seeing Spencer's tired state, Carly took charge and decided to answer the door, with Spencer trailing close behind her.

But before opening the door, Carly raised her voice so the person on the other side could hear her. "Who is it?" she called out.

"It's Freddie's mom! Open up!" came the frantic and fearful reply. Carly and Spencer exchanged puzzled glances, unsure why Freddie's mom would be knocking on their door so aggressively, particularly during the Shay siblings' regular bedtime schedule.

With Carly cautiously unlocking the door, Mrs. Benson burst forth inside, her voice trembling with fear. "Freddie! Freddie, Freddie, are you here?!" she shouted, darting towards the kitchen. Finding no sign of her son there, she continued her frantic search, running towards the iCarly set while repeatedly calling out his name.

Carly and Spencer were thoroughly confused by Mrs. Benson's frantic behavior. They were familiar with her somewhat eccentric nature, but they had never seen her act in such a way before, it was weirder than usual even for them. For a moment, the siblings stood rooted in place, standing by their apartment door, taken aback by the entire situation. However, as Mrs. Benson ascended to the second floor of their apartment, Carly and Spencer quickly regained their senses and started following her.

Gradually, it became apparent to them that something was seriously wrong, and it undoubtedly involved Freddie.

"Mrs. Benson, what's going on?" Spencer asked, catching up to her as they saw her frantically scanning the iCarly set.

"Freddie's gone!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with distress. She was about to rush towards the backroom of the set when Carly stepped in, stopping her in her tracks.

Carly gently asked, "Mrs. Benson, you need to calm down. What do you mean Freddie's gone?"

"That's exactly what it means! I was sleeping when I suddenly remembered that I forgot to apply anti-tick lotion on Freddie," Mrs. Benson explained, raising a bottle of lotion in her hand. Due to the chaos of the moment, it was the first time both Spencer and Carly noticed she was holding something. "But imagine my surprise when I went into Freddie's room, and he wasn't there. At first, I thought he was just hiding, but after searching every nook and cranny of my apartment, I couldn't find him anywhere," she continued, her worry palpable.

"So, you thought Freddie might be here?" Spencer clarified, trying to make sense of why Mrs. Benson had barged into their apartment the moment the door was opened.

"Where else could he be!?" Mrs. Benson snapped in frustration.

"Mrs. Benson, I can assure you that Freddie isn't here," Carly stated firmly, causing Mrs. Benson to scrutinize Carly's expression, searching for any signs of deception.

After a brief moment, Mrs. Benson's anger began to subside, giving way to anxiety and fear. "Then, where else could he be?" she muttered, her voice tinged with worry.

Seeing the worry and distress in Mrs. Benson's eyes, Spencer felt compelled to comfort her. As someone who played the role of both a sibling and an acting parent to Carly, he understood how devastating it would be if Carly were to go missing. Placing his hand gently on Mrs. Benson's shoulder, Spencer spoke reassuringly, "Look, Mrs. B, Carly and I will help you find Freddie. Maybe he's still in the building. We can ask Lewbert if he—"

"RING!""RING!""RING!"

Spencer's train of thought was abruptly interrupted by the ringing of his phone, catching him by surprise. "Hold on," he announced, reaching into his pocket to retrieve his phone. Perplexed by the unfamiliar number on the caller ID, Spencer's brow furrowed. However, recognizing the urgency of finding Freddie, he decided to not accept the call.

"Alright, where was I?" Spencer asked the group, momentarily forgetting his previous point due to the interruption.

"You were talking about Lewbert," Carly replied, trying to help Spencer regain his train of thought.

"Oh yeah!" Spencer exclaimed while snapping his fingers. "We'll ask Lewbert if Freddie left Bushwell Plaza, and if he didn't see him—"

"RING! RING! RING!"

Once again, Spencer's phone began ringing, interrupting his for a second time.

Recognizing that it might be best to answer the call and inform the caller to call back or stop contacting him, Spencer raised the phone to his ear and said, "Hello, whoever this is..."

Observing her brother's reaction, Carly instantly noticed that whoever was on the other end had captured his full attention, piquing her curiosity. She was about to inquire about the caller when Spencer handed the phone to Mrs. Benson and uttered, "It's Freddie." This information completely caught both Carly and Mrs. Benson off guard, especially the latter, who swiftly took the phone and shouted into it, "Where have you been, young man!?"

For a moment, Mrs. Benson waited anxiously for Freddie to respond, but when she heard the words on the other end, she was taken aback. "You're at the police department!?" she exclaimed loudly; her shock evident in her voice.

LUCAS GREY POV:

Didn't I just tell myself that I wouldn't be surprised if I encountered more characters from popular TV shows? Well, that statement quickly flew out the window the moment I laid eyes on Debra Morgan, Dexter Morgan, and Jake Peralta. But who could blame me? It was incredibly unusual to see those three individuals together. While Debra and Dexter being there made some sense, in a way.

But adding Jake Peralta to the mix just confused the heck out of me.

"My mom is going to kill me," Freddie mentioned fearfully as he slumped back into his seat.

In this world, Jake Peralta wasn't just an ordinary detective or a stay-at-home dad, as depicted in the end of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine tv show. Instead, he had risen to the rank of an FBI Federal Agent and became an integral part of the team assigned by the government to handle the mysterious case of the bodies found in the ocean. It was this authority that he used to keep us in the police station while he was investigating Sam's camera.

Currently, the three of us were seated in what I would describe as a waiting area, with a police officer standing watch to prevent us from leaving the building.

"Don't worry about it, Freddie. Technically, we haven't done anything wrong," Sam stated casually as she leaned back heavily in her seat.

"I really hate you right now," Freddie angrily retorted, glaring at Sam. "We warned you not to do it, but you didn't listen," he added.

"Well, it wasn't my fault someone started blabbering about what I was doing, was it? If you had just kept your mouth shut, then we wouldn't be here, and we wouldn't have to wait for our parents," Sam replied back to Freddie, mildly angry this time.
