Chapter 33: I am the half brother of Meredith Grey

As I arrived near the Seattle Police Department, I asked Ranjit to drop me off. The moment I heard his name, a realization clicked in my mind. He was a constant side-character from the popular show in my previous life, "How I Met Your Mother." It was fascinating to consider that somewhere in New York, Ted and his gang might exist. This realization solidified my previous thoughts that I shouldn't be surprised each time a new character appears in my life. At this point, I should assume that I will either meet familiar characters or hear that they exist. It did make me wonder though if those people who were responsible for bringing me into this world had something to do with this scenario.

"Don't stay out too late, young man," Ranjit stated before taking my money and leaving me alone.

I gazed at the Seattle Police Department, contemplating Sam's intentions for going here. Despite the late hour, the police station buzzed with activity. While it was expected for a police station to be staffed, I noticed numerous individuals wearing carpenter overalls who were clearly carrying construction materials into the side of the building.

A few minutes later, as I sat, enjoying my muffins and observing the bustling scene, a taxi pulled up, and Freddie emerged from it. The young teen's forehead glistened with sweat, his breathing rapid, and he had his right hand placed on top of his chest. Which was odd to me due to him just exiting a taxi.

"Are you okay, Freddie?" I asked, continuing to observe him.

Freddie took a moment to catch his breath, his rapid breathing gradually slowing down. He looked at me, a mixture of fear and excitement evident in his eyes.

"I don't know," Freddie replied, his voice slightly shaky. "I feel scared and excited at the same time. This is the first time I've snuck out of the house, and I'm terrified that my mom will find out. But I'm also thrilled about doing something daring. My heart is pounding like crazy", he added while trying to calm himself down.

I chuckled at Freddie's response, realizing that he was truly experiencing the rebellious nature of being a teenager for the first time. The surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins was unfamiliar to him in that context.

"Well, welcome to the teenage life, Freddie. Where we often throw caution to the wind and just go with the flow," I quipped, my amusement evident.

After a brief pause for Freddie to catch his breath, he asked, "Is Sam already here?"

"No, I was the first one to arrive," I replied, extending my hand toward him. "You want some muffins? Izzie made a lot and I brought some for snacks."

"I'm good. Besides, I'm not sure if my anxiety would act up again, and I might end up throwing up. I'd rather not risk having those muffins come back up," Freddie replied cautiously, which I understood and was actually quite thankful for. I didn't want to see him throw up Izzie's muffins in the first place, I didn't want to lose my appetite for them, considering how delicious they were.

"YO!" a voice suddenly shouted, causing both Freddie and I to jump slightly. Turning around, we saw Sam approaching us, holding the portable camera that Freddie had lent her.

Wearing a puzzled expression, Sam glanced at me and exclaimed, "Lucas? What are you doing here?"

"I actually saw you take the camera from Freddie, and I got curious. I asked Freddie about it, and he told me you were coming here, so I decided to tag along," I explained, handing the muffins to Sam, who gladly accepted them. "Snacks, nice!", she commented.

As Sam was busy munching on the muffins, I asked, "What are you doing here, Sam? What are you going to use the camera for?".

She paused, swallowing her food before replying, "It's nothing serious, really. I was thinking of getting video footage of all the dead bodies being found and putting it on iCarly. Since this is a national news event, we could attract more viewers." She spoke nonchalantly, seemingly unaware of the gravity of her words.

As Sam finish speaking, I couldn't believe my ears and found myself facepalming at the absurdity of her plan. "I don't think that's a good idea," I stated flatly. Showing dead bodies on a web show would not only tarnish the reputation of iCarly, but it also went against the show's brand. iCarly was a comedy skit show for kids, certainly not something rated R.

Even Freddie, who typically supported Sam's creative endeavors, had an annoyed and defeated look on his face, it seems that he was beginning to regret leaving his house due to Sam. He spoke up, his tone tinged with frustration, "Sam, I may only be the tech producer of iCarly, and you and Carly are the ones coming up with the comedy ideas for the show, but this is honestly a very bad idea. If I had known this was what you were planning, I wouldn't have lent you the camera."

However, Sam remained undeterred. Without wasting a moment, she swiftly turned on the camera, positioning it to face herself and stated, ""Hi guys! This is Sam from iCarly and I am in the process of getting something interesting...."

As I watched in disbelief, Sam continued her introduction for her ill-conceived video, intending to film the situation as if she was vlogging.

My heart sank as I realized the gravity of her actions. This was even worse than I initially thought. It mirrored the misguided choices that had led to Logan Paul's controversial incident, and I couldn't let iCarly suffer a similar fate.

Carly's absence struck me, as it became evident that Sam had come up with this idea on her own. Without Carly's influence to offer guidance and intervene, the consequences of Sam's actions hadn't registered in her mind.

Realizing that I needed to intervene to save the future of iCarly, I made my way towards Sam, determined to take the camera from her. However, she reacted swiftly, pulling the camera back defensively.

"Sam, please hand over the camera. What you're doing will bring serious consequences. iCarly may gain notoriety, but not in a good way," I implored, approaching her cautiously so as not to startle her. But Sam didn't take kindly to my words. Instead, she swiftly turned and dashed towards the back of the Seattle Police Department, surprising both Freddie and me.

In shock, Freddie and I exchanged glances, knowing we had to chase after Sam without delay.

"Let's go after her!" I urgently exclaimed, and we immediately sprinted to catch up with our blonde friend.

Despite the chase, Sam remained determined, keeping the camera pointed at herself and continued filming. "Don't worry, guys. Nothing will stop me from getting the footage!", she declared, her words laced with a mix of determination and ignorance of the potential consequences.

Finally, Sam reached the back fence of the Police Station, showing no signs of stopping. She intended to climb the fence when suddenly, a voice interrupted her causing her to halt in her place.

"What are you doing?" a man asked, flanked by another man and a woman.

As I caught up to Sam, it quickly became evident who the three individuals were. Standing before us were none other than Debra Morgan, Dexter Morgan, and Jake Peralta.
