ZEROBASEONE - “IN BLOOM” MV + “MELTING POINT” MV + “CRUSH” MV + “IN BLOOM” STUDIO CHOOM REACTION

Hey beautiful people!

Dropping a new group today ... a little ZEROBASEONE. In true K-Pop Crash Course fashion, I did zero research on the group before starting this filming sesh so we're just flying by the seat of our pants. You know how we do!

Anyways, a great little dip into the newest generation of k-pop bands / competition show groups. Part of me feels like we're missing out on the whole process of showing up each week as contestants battle their way into our hearts. Waiting to see who makes it to the final cut.

I haven't really been part of that on the k-pop side yet. I just find it interesting that this is a way we find talent and grow and fanbase pre-debut. But hey, it's worked for American Idol and The Voice etc.

But ZB1. Very bright, very poppy. There's a lot of them!! I don't know if I'm ready to take on nine new members but I am excited about peering into 5th gen music and see what's up.

How do y'all like ZEROBASEONE? Did you watch Boys Planet? Were you excited about which members debuted?

That's it for now. Enjoy the video!!

I really really enjoyed the Enhypen competition show "I->Land". I loved Kingdom. One of the things I loved the most about these shows is how kind the contestants are to each other. It's like the shows have to manufacture conflict because the members just want each other to succeed so badly. Also, I went into I Land a STRONG Sunghoon and Heesung bias and left it solidly a Jay bias with 6 wreckers. They still cycle around me all the time. Kingdom is a great show. I ignore the voting portion. It is soooooo manufactured and nonsensical, but watching the established idols interact with the younger groups is amazing. And you get to see all the different agencies during it, which was fun to see the differences between big vs small. I really enjoyed PROJECT 17 as well. It wasn't "officially" competition. They kept threatening that if they "didn't do well" they wouldn't get their debut showcase, but honestly they were incredible all the way through. You can see their personalities so much.

The title of ULT GROUP next to SEVENTEEN!! THat's HUGE. Omg I've actually thought of binging Boys Planet just because I love competition shows. I might bawl if I do?! It's so interesting because they're so new and they're breaking a lot stereotypes. Maybe we'll circle back to them soon and check out their show / music! Sorry this reply is coming months late. Been busy! And the post got buried!!

I really kind of want to jump into some of these competition shows. Knowing that ENHYPEN and ILLIT both came from shows. And apparently so did Twice?! I might get attached to some contestants this way but I like getting to the know the idol and rooting for them! Ohhhh I also want to watch KINGDOM. I've only heard good things. It's gotta be tough though. To have limited contracts and still not know if this will last awhile or not. Wishing the best for those kids!!

Joanne Garcia

Ohhhhh - I'll add it to the watch list. Maybe we can be in a random play or something. Also sorry these replies are coming months later. Been busy!! 😅😅

THIS VIRAL MOMENT + ALLISON'S REACTION = BEST

Joanne Garcia

Ahhhh it's going to take me awhile to get to know the members. I literally JUST got Ateez' members down. I don't know if I can handle a group this size!! They seem sweet though. The few songs we have heard from them. Not sure if we'll swing back around to them but we'll see!

Joanne Garcia

Also sorry this comment is coming back at you three months later. Life has been busy and this post got buried!!

Joanne Garcia

Yeah apparently they're really popular! My little cousin messaged me when we posted this on YouTube and she was SO STOKED about us reacting to ZB1. I guess we missed out by not watching Boys Planet. Oh well! Hopefully we'll get back to them as a group ... it's just that there's so may 5th gen boy groups already. We've barely scratched the surface!

Joanne Garcia

YAY!! Part of me wishes we watched the competition shows. I'm worried if I did, I'd get super attached to some of the contestants. We'll see about possibly circling back to them in the future. There's soooo many 5th gen groups! It's a ltitle overwhelming. Thanks for watching! Sorry this reply is coming months later. The post got buried!!

Joanne Garcia

Also sorry for the late reply ... sometimes these posts get buried and it takes me time to get back to them!

Joanne Garcia

I KNOW RIGHT. The second hand embarrassment is so horrifically IMMENSE I feel so bad for those boys but it's what it is. Oh man. I hope they're ok.

Joanne Garcia

That's what everyone says!!

Joanne Garcia

Thanks!! We like checking out the new groups and see which ones we vibe with. My cousin really likes ZB1 and so she was PUMPED when we reacted to them. Not sure if we'll come back around to them for the channel or not. But if not, I'll try to at least check out the guide on my own time! Thanks for watching! Also sorry this reply came months late ... been busy!!

Joanne Garcia

I always love when the idols are actors too. Multitalented!! Sorry my reply is coming months late ... been busy!! Thanks for watching!!

Zerobaseone is theee only group i’ve ever given the title of ult group alongside Seventeen (the ZB1 - SVT pipeline is a REAL THING). I decided to stan and literally binge watch all of Boys Planet about 2 months ago bc i had already loved the songs that i heard from them and i literally balled my eyes out 😭. Their signature sound is Drum&Bass and Garage and i just love their music A LOT. It’s truly a crime that they’re just a temporary group… Their fandom name is Zerose and their debut album broke records as the highest sales for a debut album ever! They are one of the first groups to debut in the 5th gen of kpop and many people say that they break a lot of kpop industry stereotypes as half of the members have tattoos, the eldest is a known BL actor, and one of the chinese members Zhanghao, won first place in all of Boys Planet being ZB1’s official center. This was a huge deal since in these Survival show groups, they never allowed a non-korean contestant to win that title!! Love them sm! 💗

I haven't watched a lot of ZB1 stuff but I did follow them a little because of Jiwoong as well. His journey to becoming an idol was a STRUGGLE but he never gave up on his dream. There is still stigma surrounding LGBTQ communities in most of the world, so I was very supportive of him. I too watched his BL drama, and I appreciate the willingness to give a voice to a minority community. (I don't speculate about sexuality. Any sexuality can choose to act in a BL and I hope they're not stereotyped) Ricky is so ethereally beautiful it's unfair. I didn't watch Boys Planet while it was happening (I canNOT handle the bickering and fan wars) but I enjoy watching the competition shows after they've completed. I REALLY loved I-Land and Kingdom. A lot of the competition groups fall apart, but I'm excited that ZB1 has done well and I hope it allows them to keep their places in entertainment going forward as a group or individuals.

Last post...here is their recent Japanese release...very cute MV, but also a great song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx8qT6H8bkM, I would also check out their B-Side "Take My Hand" on the Melting Pot album, another great song. Okay I am done. ;-)

Not me coming to tears off that viral clip...oh those poor young men! Your faces when they started singing are priceless, and I am pretty sure Allison now realizes that nope...those two are definitely not in the group. LOL

New to ZB1 within the last couple of months, and so I am glad you guys are reacting to them. They are a very talented group, full of great vocalist and dancers. In Bloom was what I heard (not knowing about the show)and loved it immediately! I am still learning about everyone but I know there is quite the age gap between Jiwong(eldest, 1998) and the maknae Yu Jin (2007). I also believe that their center is Hao (2000, 2nd oldest) is Chinese and won that spot through his popularity on the competition show(rank 1st), which supposedly is a rarity for a foreigner and possibly never had been done before, next is Han Bin (2001-Leader/Visual), I believe you commented on his brows, he also host M Countdown, next is Matthew (2002-Canadian, still very much learning to speak Korean fluently, and correctly), Ricky (2004) the very blonde one with the tattoo on the neck is also Chinese as well( love his vocal tone), then there is Gyu Vin (2004), and then 2nd to youngest Gun Wook (2005). Funny because starting with Ricky is I guess the maknae line and they are the tallest members (5'11"-6"). Great all around group, with great music. I actually just got into their content and they are pretty funny as well, definitely do not seem to be caught up into idol stereotypes, maybe because they have a limited contract but they seem to be a little cray (in the best way).

I'm excited to watch this later! Me and my mom went to KCON 23 and before the show we were talking about the ones performing that night and my mom asked me if I knew anything by ZB1 and I said no. Quite literally everyone around us turned around to look at us like we were insane lol the younger girl in front of us gave us a quick rundown and they ended up being so good! It will be nice seeing a few MVs of theirs.

I watched boys planet but I very recently got into zerobaseone (like a week ago) so i’m so happy you guys reacted to them 🫶

wooziverse

Allison's hand over mouth at the viral moment from boys planet...😂 But I feel kinda bad for how viral it went for those two.

Lisa M T

Loved Jiwoong in Roommates of Poongduck 304!

Lisa M T

Ahhh I didn’t expect you guys to watch ZB1!! Their fandom name is Ze_rose and they just came out with their Japanese debut ‘YURA YURA’ a few weeks ago! If you guys are interested in reacting to a guide, even if you just want to get to know them on your own time, I suggest watching ‘A VERY helpful guide to Zerobaseone (2024)’ . They’re genuinely so lovely!!

Ari

I was actually a fan of the eldest member (Jiwoong) before his debut in ZB1, cause he acted in some queer(BL) shows that I had already seen and really liked. Roommates of Poongduck 304 is my personal fave of his pre-ZB1 shows.
