Ok! Here's part two of K-Pop reactions with Duy and Johnny!
They are so funny. I kind of love that they invited themselves onto our reaction channel. Kind of bummed I didn't add another poster up there in the top left hand side, but oh well. It is what it is.
Well, surprise surprise. The boys loved BLACKPINK. We'll have to do a deep dive for all of them (Allison included) because she hasn't seen everything yet either).

I also avoided girl groups for a LONG time. Honestly I was ARMY only for probably the first 2 years of my k-pop journey (2018 to 2020). I was so protective of BTS that I had annoyance with the industry in general. Stray Kids wrecked that for me a year ago, and since then the world opened up. I'm now a proud STAY, MOA, ATINY, MELODY, iKONIC, CARAT, BLACK ROSE, and I stan so many other groups. I like a LOT of girl group songs (NMIXX new stuff is great, love New Jeans) and I listen to a lot of Red Velvet and Twice. Never really got into Blackpink. I can't deny they are talented, they are beautiful and their video visuals and production are insane. I have only found 3 or 4 songs out of their catalogue that I enjoy, and since their agency keeps their catalogue so small, it makes it harder for me to stan.

But after having done this channel for over a year and feeling responsible enough to really examine the music we react to - in my personal opinion, BLACKPINK is nowhere near the level of depth of BTS' music. And their discography is nowhere near the level of Twice's music. I personally don't gravitate toward the girlie bubble gum type stuff but Twice's music is so catchy, I can't help but enjoy it. And the 4th gen girl groups are killing it. I really like Itzy and NewJeans a lot. And even though I've only heard two songs each from Le SSerafim and XG, I like them too. I just feel like BLACKPINK made their presence known and are regarded as the top girl k-pop group but it's somewhat undeserved ... ughhhhhh, I'd totally get in trouble for saying that. But it's all about positioning and coming out with like big bangers. Idk. I like jamming out to their songs, it's just sometimes I'm not sure what they're singing about.

Plus in my experience, many girl groups song lyrics have little depth. This is my experience only, before people get all bent outta shape...
