2024-07-26 21:08:35 +0000 UTCI don't think holding hands is more or less intimate than sex but its a different kind of intimacy as hand holding is purely affectionate there's no lust behind it you would only do it with someone you care for. Sex on the other hand can be purely for gratification and in some ways not intimate at all.

Sex happens (usually) privately, so no one knows how close you actually are. But even more intimate than either of those is brushing someone's hair.

Then again I'm demi so I wouldn't exactly be hooking up with people anyway unless I felt a strong connection with them and that's very rare. So no strangers in bars for me 😆

2024-05-23 09:21:14 +0000 UTCmy biggest hurdle with defining this kinda stuff is that it's contextual. casual sex would be far less intimate than a large proportion of the handholding happening at any given time i'd hazard a guess that we're looking at a surprisingly close split between intimate handholding and intimate sex on a global level, and i'd also suggest that sincerely loving acts, whether holding hands or having sex, can be equally intimate everyone's right!
