Similar. I love Evil Dead 1 & 2. Army of Darkness is goofy, but still fun. The 2013 reboot wasn't the train wreck I was expecting, but I recently rewatched it and it's mean spirited gore porn. Nothing fun about it and I don't care about any of the characters. I laugh when those Deadites speak and I shouldn't be. I absolutely loved the tv show and was so bummed when it got canceled. The newest movie felt like an Evil Dead greatest hits compilation and when it ran out of material, it started borrowing from other horror movies. I didn't hate it, but probably the most forgetful Evil Dead movie. At least it got me to play the video game some more.

Was still living at my parents house and my girlfriend was sleeping over. She was already asleep (I’d like to say because I wore her out but probably because she was bored). I had a little tv at the foot of my bed and put on HBO. Evil Dead 2 had just started and it was so crazy good that I couldn’t sleep till it was over. Not long after I rented the first evil dead. That’s right, it was so long ago rentals were still around. Evil Dead was pretty much the same thing as evil dead 2 but a little less humorous and obviously a cheaper production. Army of darkness came out a few years later and I rented that. It had more humor and was rated pg 13, but was still a fun watch. Then the reboot came out in 2013 and it was a disappointment. Too serious, no characters that I cared about. The tv show was awesome! 3 seasons of ash’s blood and humor. Even some touching moments. Now I just saw evil dead rise. I think of it as evil dead suck. Totally humorless. Just rivers of blood. It’s like the writer and director did t watch the other movies. The overwhelming bloodshed in evil dead 2 was hysterical. It was funny as well as gory. Evil dead rise was boring, dumb and gory
