I didn’t hate it like everybody apparently did. I think Daniel Roebuck will be a pretty good Grandpa. He’s a huge Munsters fan and has a impressive horror collection. We will see about Jeff Phillips as Herman and Sheri Moon as Lily. I’m glad it’s a prequel showing how they met. Rob Zombie is a huge fan of The Munsters so I’m hoping he’ll do it justice. It’s rated PG so Rob is gonna have to show restraint and I’m glad he’s finally doing something toned down and different. The usual Zombie negatives shouldn’t be there. The main complaints were that it looked cheap and was corny. That’s The Munsters. It was a 60’s spooky Leave it to Beaver that was shot in black and white, not for creative reasons, but to save money. It was always cheap. The show had visible piano string and rubber bats. It was campy. Instead of modernizing it I think Rob was just making it faithful to the show. I grew up watching The Munsters in the morning while waiting for the bus, but most kids today probably haven’t seen the original show. So there’s no way this was gonna be a $100 million dollar project. My only real complaint is that the sound didn’t seem finished because it probably wasn’t. At the end of the day, it’s a trailer and I’ll need the final movie to truly critique it. I’m cautiously hopeful, but as a Zombie fan I’ve been let down half the time by his movies. I did just see him in concert a couple weeks ago and it was fun as usual.
