Update: Plans for 2019

Hello Patrons and friends!

An update on some of the content you can expect over the next few months and through 2019:

Pico-8 SFX Tutorials

This is an idea I got from Paul Nicholas and other members of the Pico-8 community. I’m going to produce some tutorials on how to make specific kinds of sound effects (jump, explosions, lasers etc.). $5+ Patreon content will include a cart with, for example, many different jump sounds for you to check out and use in your own games. Over time, I’ll update this cart to include all the new jump sounds that I’ve written.

I’ve started making a list of sound effects that could have its own dedicated tutorial. Can you recommend some others?

Music Covers

There are still two tunes from Celeste and Fez that I’ll be remaking in Pico-8 or MilkyTracker. If you have any requests for other covers/sheet music, let me know!  Speaking of Celeste, if we meet the $200/month goal, I was thinking of remaking the entire soundtrack in Pico-8. What do you think?

Jazz Piano Articles

I know most of my Patrons aren’t necessarily interested in playing jazz piano, but these articles and exercises are really important to me as a pianist and teacher. If you haven’t seen them, they’re very deep analyses of piano improvisation and a collection of exercises for intermediate players. My goal is to publish something once a month. I’m currently working on an article about hand independence and improvising counterpoint. If you’re curious what they’re all about, you can find me on Twitch most days practicing and investigating these ideas. I’d be happy to talk about it and answer questions https://www.twitch.tv/gruber99

At some point, I’d like to stream myself performing, but that may have to wait until mid-year. These jazz piano articles are being written while I rebuild my own playing and weed out bad technical habits. I’d like to get comfortable with this first before think about repertoire and performing

MilkyTracker Tutorials

In the next month or so, I’d like to start making a series of tutorials on writing chiptunes in MilkyTracker. I already have a 4-part series for beginners, but I’d like to expand that to intermediate users. I think It’d be interesting to make a collection of tutorials that go through all of the columns, effects and hotkeys.  This isn't as high a priority as Pico-8 tutorials, so unless I get more ideas for Pico-8 tutorials, hopefully I'll start these in March.

That’s everything on the to-do list for now. Thanks as always for your support. In case you missed it, I recently made my Discord channel open for all Patrons. If you haven’t joined yet, come say hello!
