Comic Report #131.1 - Momentum

Hello again! Got a status update for you today. This week I didn't get quite as much work done as I'd planned, but I got it to the point where it's all downhill from here. This week I'd been taking some more time to work on my health and well-being, I've been exhausted but I gotta keep the train rolling. I've also been putting a bit of time towards getting something together to make a gamedev post on here- I haven't put one up for a little bit for a myriad of reasons, but I want to get back on that particular track. Juggling the music scene with that, I've got to find the time, but I will be trying to get something wrapped up and ready for next week. For this week, however, I hit my ink-and-flat point, and I'm good to roll into the week to come.

I ended up resolving the two blank panels from last week. In that little sliver panel in between panels 1 and 3 I elected to emphasize the angle of the couch seat to help sell the perspective. I pursued the "line of sight" idea putting Dale in the right side and fit just enough important details along the sightline to sell what I was hoping to sell. The swing in the third panel that I struggled with, I elected to fake it a little bit and use an evocative composition to imply the shot I wanted to set up. Using the curve of the bat and the flat part of the side of the head, I think it's clear that he's bonking a guy before he can reach for his gun. That's good enough, I'll move forward from here.

I feel like this page shouldn't be too bad for me to paint up, because a lot of the backgrounds are going to be very abstract, and that usually means something is gonna be quick to block in and paint. Panel five is maybe the biggest depth-of-field shot in the whole page, firing down into the whole room with all the wall decorations receding into the panel frames in either direction. I think that shot will be the biggest pain to paint a background for, but everything else should be easy peasy.

So that's where I am today. I'm gonna get back to things and see how much I can get done by this time next week- I do really want to get this other gamedev thing I am working on ready to share with you too, so I'll be juggling things to get work done on it but I'm gonna keep prioritizing the comic until this scene is finished, that's just what I think I gotta do. Thanks for checking in with me, I'll catch you again soon. Until next time, have a nice week!
