It'd be nice if they did that, or at least has some kind of sane implementation of tagging. No worries on using the personal form of "you" in French. I always felt like the plural / formal form was always meant for things like talking to professors, being in a professional workspace, or perhaps even talking to elders. The way I see figure: if we can talk in slang and share memes on the Internet, we can speak informally. Besides, it's a step on the road to being friends, right? :) I'm kind of in this weird space where I'll be working every day until November. I'm hoping that I'll get a day or an afternoon off if things go well, but it's crunch mode for me until the Euro-trip! But if you ever feel like talking, I'm here. I went on French exchange almost 3 years ago now, so my French is pretty decent :). Here's to hoping I can keep the skill! I find learning languages is a lot of fun, but I agree, life catches up, whether it be work or something else, and just messes all the hobbies up xDD I hope you get more of a chance to refresh your French knowledge! I've just started a new term, so all the quizzes and weekly to-do lists are getting tossed at me. It should be fine though ahaha. I'm glad you've settled back comfortably after your trip! -Gess

2021-09-22 15:20:38 +0000 UTCJe peux écrirer un peu, mais j'oublie trop le langue. It's kind of crazy when you expose yourself to something you haven't done or dealt with in a long time. I went to France in 2019 and got a massive headache the moment we got there. We're driving through the streets with the Uber driver, seeing signs everywhere. "There's a word that I remember. What does that mean? Oh, there's another one!" My mind was working on overdrive trying to take everything in. And it's all flooding back at once. It's kind of like living in a cave for a year and going outside into a sunny day. Don't get me wrong. It's amazing. It's incredible. But it takes a little bit of acclimating. I always tell myself when I'm going somewhere that I'm going to take some time and either learn a little bit of the language, or refresh myself on what I know. And that always falls through since I get overwhelmed with work. Ah well :D Hope you're doing well and your studies aren't too stressful right now. --Mark

The closest thing to having an X in my name was French class in High School. We all had separate "French" names that we'd be referred to in class. I went with Xavier. Here I was thinking that I'd be channelling my inner Professor X by having a name like that. I like how the name sounds, too. Ex-aye-vee-er. Unfortunately, the French don't pronounce the name that way. It's more like "Zav-ee-aye". So even my French name doesn't even sound like it has an X in it. Dommage. ;)
