I saw a John Wayne Gacy clown painting in the Newseum, in DC (when it was still open). He had sent it to someone and written on the back, like a postcard. What struck me most was that it was painted on good ol' Fredrix Red Label cotton canvas board. Not great but not bad either. I guess he cared at least a little bit about archival quality.
