Behind the Scenes of my Failed Movie Project (2001)
Added 2023-06-27 04:29:39 +0000 UTC"Heterophobic" (2001) the story of two woman on the lam wanted for murdering priests and burning down churches (!). (Our productions were such pieces of shit we had to get people's attention somehow!) In this scene, my dear friend Douglas plays Bunny, a mentally deranged cross-dresser who stops by a travel plaza to freshen up and change her clothes. Things got real dicey as we were shooting guerrilla style with no permission or location releases. Douglas went into the women's room with Angela my producer to change. We made the mistake of hanging FBI wanted posters all over the travel plaza with Douglas's Bunny character's face on it. As he exited the bathroom in his second outfit...people started following us. I filmed Douglas making a hasty getaway for the exit doors with a small group of concerned citizens following us. You have to remember we shot this only months after 9/11 so everyone was really on edge. One man was so angry he started screaming at us, "I called the FBI you motherfuckers!" We were laughing so hard I think he probably wanted to kill us. We got back in our warm car safely with the scene in the can and raced out of there. We shot more scenes in the weeks after but I just wasn't happy with the project. Unfortunately over the next 22 years, the master tapes were lost. It's possible that they may turn up one day in my tape archive once I sit down and log everything. Right now I'm just grateful to have this footage. I hope you enjoy!
