PATREON ONLY LIVESTREAM

Comments

Watching this and doing housework while totally relating to Dan's life. I'm an introvert and prefer to be alone. That's when I get my work done while laughing my ass off at Dan's venting sessions about people. With social media people want attention. Me I enjoy you Dan and your work. It's priceless. When you go shopping with Dillon that is a riot on how you guys shop. Lmao every time. Keep up the great work. Love u brother, from Arizona.

I can see parallels with Dan's situation at my own business premises - I want to keep my door open to the 90% of people who drop in occasionally and enrich my life, don't overstay their welcome so I can do my job and don't make their problems my problems. But it's the minority who spoil mine and my colleagues' days and every time they drop in I just feel like I want to install a counter and a buzzer to stop people coming in. What's the right thing to do? I work for the family business, located in a prominent position in the village we grew up in. We've been there a long time (>75 years) and we've always kept our door open, figuratively and literally, to welcome people in and involve ourselves in our community. There's always been a small element that's abused this goodwill, and it's a source of frustration that certain rude and ignorant people will wander in when you're trying to work and take up your day with nonsense. In most cases I think they're oblivious to the effect they're having. It's gotten worse in the last 10 years or so, as people's sense of entitlement (driven a lot by social media, I think) has grown. I also think there's a lot more loneliness out there, as people lead more detached and peripatetic lives. It's a shame that the prevailing trend in the world seems to be to "manage" people at arms' length so you don't have to deal with their twattery, but that seems to be the only way to be able to get our jobs done.
