I think Dan stayed out of its clutches mostly because he did his own research. Apparently, the high-ups of $cientology were horrified when the World Wide Web was first going mainstream and spilling their secrets. Members of $cientology were forbidden from accessing the web unless they used special $cientology-approved (AKA censored) versions of web browsers that attempted to block all the critic sites. Can you say... FUTILITY π If the guy with the iPhone 1 was a Scientologist, he probably didn't upgrade it because they TOLD him NOT to upgrade.

2021-09-07 03:20:15 +0000 UTCI think I tend to be hard on Scientology because they've only been a "thing" for a few generations rather than hundreds-to-thousands of years like the "classic" religions. It's like I somehow think the founders of $cientology should have known better? My mental calculation is probably unfair? $cientology has several well-documented sinister misdeeds to their (dis)credit over mere decades. The mainstream religions' transgressions span Γ¦ons and are way too numerous to count. A lot probably gets glossed over? (Especially now - i.e. reports about rampant sexual abuse, the atrocities at Residential Schools, etc. etc. etc. re-emerge. There's very little new info in these reports, but we keep "forgetting.")

I can see smoke haze inside my house, my eyes are burning out of my head and I am so congested. Not to mention it's been triple digit temps since the end of May. I work outside 40-50 hours a week. Time to get out of California! It's a burning hell hole.
