God he was such a jerkoff

Man! Rick just doesn’t stop!

Shart Masters LLC

Listening to these older podcasts. And wow, Rick is REALLY out of line here. Unbelievable. lol

Davey Gentry

Woah! Never knew this happened before! Reminds me of a startup I used to work at in the Silicon Valley. Glad things have worked out since then. (viewed this in 2021) Next time: CHALLENGE RICK TO FISTICUFFS followed by a Penis measuring contest (both hard and flacid)!

Bud's Red Hots

it's life, business and friendship.

reddwood

I get why this made people uncomfortable, but I personally haven’t laughed this much in a while. I’m glad you two have the kind of relationship where you can yell at each other and still laugh in the end.

SeaweedWitch

Well this was entertaining listening to while being on the road. Glad it got worked out.

angel richardson

I don't really think Rick is talking about literally sitting down in a chair and staring into a project for hours on end. I think what he means is doing smaller things to alleviate the actual producer things and thus in a way is kind of backseat producing. Rick knows he doesn't have experience in the field and Dan listed some good examples like giving Rick some scissors and cutting hair. While that is a good example, I don't think it's relevant here because Rick isn't trying to edit film. If he were, then yes that would be a little insulting and offensive, but I'm pretty sure he just wants to contribute to producing in some way or another. Either way, I think we can all agree, Rick will probably never use any producer credits on his "R-H-S-P-A-R-A-N-O-R-M-A-L" youtube page.

Stephen Labay

This was like an episode of Dr. Phil lmao.

Rebekah Richards

Speaking as a film/video professional, I got a bit annoyed that Rick thinks he can just do video producing with no experience. It's a common occurrence in anything to do with a creative job where people think they can just waltz in and do just as good as someone who has been doing it for 10, 20, 30+ years. People don't realize we have skills that have taken a lot of time, money, blood and sweat to refine, just as in other professions.

Bitty

This episode made me angry, upset & very uncomfortable. 😡😡😡😡.

Rosemary Bolino

I think Rick NOT acting like a little bitch is like, the sixth sign of the apocalypse.

Sarah Parviz

I gave up Soda too...sometimes I fall asleep crying at night dreaming of the ice cold refreshing beverage...

Jonathan Larkin

Love this episode! A behind the scenes peak into the reality of having a show and podcast. I hope it doesn’t lead to more issues, you all are professionals and I trust all will be worked out!

Wesley Yoshida (Wild Wild Wes)

THANK YOU for sharing this with us. I enjoyed the raw genuineness of it. Dan, part of why your work is so consistently brilliant is how honest and real you are, and that includes with your audience and fans. The Podcast carries on that artistic tradition.

Montrealer

**glad it was done in one podcast though. I don't need anymore suspense right now.

Dana Saravia

Oh goodness, lol. Rick, the extra $$ and starpower is really where it's at. Producing is a lot of behind the scenes work and it won't endear you to the masses the way your working in front of the camera does :) I know you & Dan have known each other for years and Jake sounds like a great guy, very patient and understanding. I'm sure if you really want to get more producer credits, you could take on more of the research and coordination roles. But really you're better off just concentrating on being you and cracking everyone up. Making the show famous is enough of a job 😉. Dan, I think offering Rick the pay raise was a great way to handle it, certainly fair while not busting the show's budget. And I'm glad you didn't have to get Stephen L Miles involved, that would be beaucoup bucks- after all, he once had a jingle, so you know he"s serious. Round of applause to Jake for being patient and professional while Rick worked out his issues. I figured everyone would get back on the same page, I'm really g

Dana Saravia

I can see both sides of this, so it is hard for me to choose who is right and who is wrong. I do remember Rick saying in the past that he wants to be more involved in the show, but I do feel that his expertise IS being the star, and on top of that, his knowledge as a Health Inspector. I love the way he picks apart a room as he is so good at explaining the health hazards of certain conditions....most importantly he is just so funny and he does brighten everyone's day! I love the story of him helping out that lonely man! I work with people in housing and I see it everyday....how sad it all is...it does make you feel so good when you give of yourself to people like that! You are a good man Rick Serra!!!! I am also a Licensed Massage Therapist, so if our paths should ever cross, you will get your foot massage! :)

Maria

Are you still planning on shouting out Sextia's GoFundMe?

Michael Bunten

Love the podcast! Poor Rick :(

Obscura - A True Crime Podcast

this is great entertainment, thats it..dont take it too seriously and have fun.rick and dan are. love you guys.:)

Brenda Lee Mina Letender

It always ends on a positive note. Rick is like my dad. I wouldn’t know what to do without him.

Dan Bell

Well, let’s not get too off the rails.

Dan Bell

NO THANKS!

Dan Bell

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Dan Bell

This has been our relationship for years. He loves being a spectacle. I’m pretty sure he did this to drive us all crazy.

Dan Bell

EXACTLY

Dan Bell

I can assure you, this is not the case. Will deserted us.

Dan Bell

Well, I do change his nappies.

Dan Bell

Rick has ALWAYS done this to me for YEARS. He met his goal of being a spectacle yesterday. He’s happy now.

Dan Bell

I totally agree.

Dan Bell

Rick does contribute more to the show than just being the star. Without his expertise (and personality) the show would not be as good.

Derek Biscamp

To the people saying that Rick isn't handled respectfully: I think it only looks that way because you don't factor in the relationship Dan and Rick have. They know each other for years and Dan has mentioned numerous times that Rick likes to have meltdowns like this. I can understand that this might get a little nerve-wracking after a while and explains the harsh reactions. I certainly have friends with quirks that piss me off to no end. We fight, but I still love them. I think all that drama ended with a good compromise. Rick gets a little bit more money and the producers keep on producing.

Danny

can rick talk into the fucking microphone, please what a passive-aggressive asshole

G. Geef

Rick, you don't need a producer credit. It would be like getting a pity fuck from Dan.

Allyson Hughes

I don't think the podcast was a good place to discuss these issues but I'm definitely siding with Dan and Jake on this one. Although maybe Rick getting a footrub might be a reasonable concession :)

Dominic Ashman

Can Rick's drag name be Mah Tools?

Allyson Hughes

Listening to this felt like listening to my parents argue. I am terrified thinking “please don’t get a divorce”

Samuel Utz

Rick expressed his thoughts and opinions and was told his thoughts and opinions were wrong. While I can agree that the stress of retirement can affect people in different ways, you're so cold to him sometimes! I love ya man, but you have a way with words that could kill a long time friendship. :(

Stephen Labay

There will be too many cooks in the production kitchen. He has flying saucer eyes. Just be patient, Rick

Candy Spamby

Are Rick and Will in contact? I feel like maybe Will told Rick to freak out on you about this and fling the show into chaos. Come on, Rick...you guys are a team! Right now you need to act like one and the show will continue. If you can't be a team, the show will fall apart. I would rather not see that happen.

Tina Ramsey

Hi. Treat Rick with a little more maturity and respect. Thank you.

Shane

We all love you Rick and 🌹🌷🌺

Donna Marie

I'm not sure that Rick realized how much he's loved in his role on ADR. It would never be the same without him do I find he's the most important person on the show....he's the STAR 💜

Donna Marie

I’m in agreement that retirement is getting to Rick, it happens, but there’s a part of me that feels Rick is a little threatened by Jake. I remember Rick making a comment on an earlier podcast in regards to having to take orders from a 20 year old. Being a little older myself, I can see where Rick might be coming from but it’s unwarranted. Jake genuinely sounds like he cares about Rick’s opinions and I thought it was sweet he took Rick’s advice on making the list and such. As much as I adore Rick, he needs to step back and take a look at the larger picture and hopefully get some perspective. Besides, I can’t feel too sorry for Rick, he gets to hug Brennan. I’m jealous because I want to hug Brennan. Lucky bastard. 🤣

Carrie Walters

I can’t listen to this one, i listen to these to escape my reality but instead it was my reality

Janny

This episode gave me that weird anxiety you get when you hear your parents fight quietly so you can't really hear it but you still can.

Amber B

Keep Brennen as executive producer and have Rick "and" an orangutan inspect rooms together. Ah ha ha ha!!! If the orangutan and Rick don't get along with one another you can always make the orangutan a producer. LOL Please try to all get along with one another. I think Rick just wants to have a say in some of the decision making. If you did once in a while, without losing control of the production aspect of it, it may ease some of the tension. But what the hell do I know?!

Sebastien Bolduc

This episode gave me anxiety.

Kerry Nichols

I tend to see Dan's point more. Rick has a particular job that he's been given since the beginning and from Dan's point of view, who is the coordinator of the entire thing, there's no need to complicate things further.

PIT-FACE

Ughhhh....This episode made me so uncomfortable.

Katie Barber

MOM! DAD! DON'T FIGHT!!

PIT-FACE

Rick is in the right! This was a very uncomfortable podcast to listen to. It felt like Rick had a legitimate request (at least when it came to the Producer request), and he was treated like a child because of it. He made it clear at the start of the podcast that he'd prefer not to talk about the situation then, but he was still forced too. I honestly hoped during the whole time I listened to the podcast that eventually you'd guys would bust up laughing and admit that it was just a joke, but sadly that never happened. Dan, I'm not saying you were in the wrong, but this whole situation was handled really poorly.
