There's quite a few links to Dr Who, especially with the TV version - one of the main characters, Sandra Dickinson, was the wife of Peter Davison who then went on to become Dr Who. Peter Davison is a MEGA fan of the radio/book & he managed to get himself a cameo role in a later episode. Together they had a daughter, Georgia, who married David Tennant. Of course Dr Who & Torchwood scripts often contain bits that refer to Hitchhiker's

He spent the majority of the christmas special in pyjamas and a dressing gown. Also The Doctor makes reference to Arthur Dent, to let the audience know that this was an intentional reference to the character.

2025-10-06 18:00:37 +0000 UTCMore of this would be great. In terms of the Doctor Who inspiration, Douglas Addams was actually the script editor of the show for a bit during Tom Baker's era. He actually wrote the story you've already seen, City of Death, so yeah, very similar vibe.

Douglas Adams was Script Editor for the 1979/80 series of 'Doctor Who' and was responsible for 'City Of Death', so yes there are connections there! Oh, and Alan Bell is perhaps best known for his marathon stint as producer of 'Last Of The Summer Wine' (although not the episodes you've currently seen)...
