One of the biggest giveaways that something wasn’t right was when this guy, who had been struggling the previous day on fairly simple questions, came to the music question. The 50/50 lifeline left him with two answers - the correct one of Craig David whom he’d never heard of, and A1 which he’d been gunning for from the start - and he said “Well that doesn’t help me”. Anyone else would have been even more convinced by their original choice. Then there’s the phone call when the producer told him they weren’t paying up because they suspected fraud and the police were involved. Any innocent person would have gone ballistic and said “Hey, hang on a minute! How dare you accuse me of fraud!” and so on. He just responded flatly “Good lord. Yes, I understand. I refute it, obviously. Well, thanks for telling me.”
