Yeah, I'd say the final part of the show is probably the strongest. I always felt they'd massively underutilised the time travel stuff at the beginning and basically just made a normal sitcom. In the final few series there's other time travellers, clones, alternate timelines, etc. They definitely lean more into the weird sci-fi stuff in the latter half, and it's much stronger. Plus, Gary is openly referred to as a bigamist and scumbag almost every episode and the show is VERY clear that he's a terrible person, which makes it slightly more watchable. At least the writers know and don't try to make excuses for him. It becomes slightly more self-aware.

The series of good night sweetheart you haven’t reacted to is more science fiction than the rest, I have to admit I gave up around about then an only saw those episodes later.
