I think a lot of this, is out of context, Janice is an annoying woman but she’s also a vulnerable character, this has been missing in this episode, at that point also missing is the fact Nick dated her daughter, I think for this you should have watched an edited version with just the Peter Kay parts, also back then coronation street was more of a comedy played for laughs
