If you enjoyed this, I thoroughly recommend the series Whitechapel. A police procedural where the first story is a modern day version of the Ripper legend with a copycat killer in the same location. The series then goes on to use (genuine) historical killings from the area as its method of profiling current day crimes with the second story covering the Kray twins. Some great performances from Rupert Penry-Jones, Phil Davis (the soothsayer from Fires of Pompeii Doctor Who) and Steve Pemberton (League of Gentlemen).

Slightly connected, in that series 1 starts by focusing on the mystery of The Ripper. 2009s Police drama Whitechapel, 3 part first series, is one possibility for the future you might wish to consider. Some familiar faces.
