I’ve seen the final episode so many times, but only just realized that he developed such a love of the caravan that he crammed the entire house worth of furniture into the living room in the house, and it’s arranged exactly like the caravan, including the Flavia machine. He even says “it could use a skylight” as he walks in, then there is his reluctance to choose a bedroom that will fit his bed in it; The concept of him constraining himself to 5% of the home is another layer I missed. Between the Travel tavern and the caravan, it’s like he has developed a kind of agoraphobia about moving in. The detail that Coogan crams into this character is so good. Come to think of it, I can’t think of a single other character in modern comedy that has reemerged so many times in so many formats, and always with the same baffoonery layered over more recent current events. From the early nineties to today’s audible podcasts, and still funny. Not giving anything away, but Alan has lots of opinions about Covid, Identity politics, and the Metoo movement, once you catch up 😀
