2022-07-15 17:48:42 +0000 UTCI think the thing is that once you leave the origin country, "[insert country here] cuisine" always becomes VASTLY different from how it's done originally (carbonara in my country also has the cream, for example). But I can understand your frustration when it's presented as being "authentic"!

I do wish they'd gotten a more competent chef though, I'm Italian and these two episodes are just a freaking PAIN to get through... Carbonara is ONE specific recipe for pasta and it has virtually no variation at all - it's pork cheek not bacon, not other kinds of meat, NO cream for God's sake, NO CREAM in a carbonara, it's all egg yolk and sheep cheese! Like if you want to make pasta with a cream sauce, mushrooms and another cut of meat you can, just don't bloody call it carbonara bc it isn't T_T The "arrabbiata" is also a specific kind of recipe, which is meant to be quite spicy (hence the name "arrabbiata" which literally means "angry") so I suppose that's why V made a face when he tasted it 🤣 I was incredibly sad to see them pair 3 nice pasta dishes with steaks though. Pasta is a stand-alone, almost a complete meal in and of itself, it doesn't need any side! It certainly shouldn't be paired with a steak, which for Italians is a second course dish and does require some sort of vegetable side 😩 It was nice to see them engage with some of our traditional recipes even if most of it was definitely wrongly executed (not their fault, I'm disappointed in the chef who was supposedly an *expert* in Italian cuisine - ehm, nope he isn't) Even though I'll never understand the step were Yoongi stirred the pasta with some garlic and oil in the pan, the pesto sauce was definitely correct and looked perfect (Jimin's arrabbiata too) 😋

Mayo may not be a snack, but there a snack that use mayo and mustard (ex: deviled eggs, tuna mayo rice, or meats brushed with mayo for a golden brown) so I think the point is still valid Nico. 😉😂
