A lot of people don’t like 42, I kind of get it as it is b movieish I prefer it to Lazarus which was too silly for me, although gattiss is brilliant, to be fair to the mother here, just like Jackie, her daughter has turned up with a stranger, there are monsters, some officials tell her he’s dangerous, then her daughter phones up, literaly getting angry over a pub quiz question and there’s a death scream in the background , wouldn’t you phone the authorities? Lol 😂

2022-09-28 10:02:51 +0000 UTCI’m personally on the opposite track with regards to these two episodes. Neither are anywhere near my favourite but I dislike Lazarus so much more than 42. I really don’t mind 42 much at all, particularly when it comes to DT’s central performance…it’s the first time you really see 10 genuinely, properly terrified. As for the next two parter, they’re both brilliantly made, well written episodes. Next month and beyond for the rest of series completely make up for these two eps being a bit naff. Also I have to say, on the rewatch, I’m still not gelling with the Jones’ family. Martha is a wonderful companion but the family unit never really works as a whole, imo.
