My absolute joy is that this is a loving tribute to the old school Doom. The sound effect of doors opening is taken straight from Doom and Doom 2 and we had a really fleeting reference to Deimos as well. Also, loved seeing Danny Webb in this as Jefferson. Although his quotation at Scooty’s passing wasn’t Shakespeare, it taps into his Shakespearean acting heritage: https://youtu.be/eqC9wr776KM with Ian Holm and yes a VERY young Christian Bale!

2022-03-30 22:04:33 +0000 UTCI adore these two episodes, the story is wonderful and imo, it has one of the creepiest villains in the whole run (the Toby version, not the CGI). Even as an adult, it really creeps me out when he’s manically smiling outside on the planet in The Impossible Planet. The only downside to this being a brilliant two parter is that we have to endure Love and Monsters next. It’s such an awful episode that I’ve only ever seen it a handful of times in the 15 years it’s been around. Fear Her is a slight step up for episode 11. But then again, the finale makes the naff episodes worth every second. You’re in for a good ride with the rest of S2.
