Comments

Jhope is genius.

Elina Psych

This was my favorite on my first listen to the album and that hasnt changed. I love watching the joy on your faces at the bridge. I feel the same way. Its really a great song. Im so proid of Hobi and even Jimin for his help with the bridge. It just shows why BTS is such a good team!!

Jimsuji

Sometimes that’s what it takes 🤓

WhatchaGot2Say

I love this song now—it grew on me after reading lyrics.

Pamela Rivers

Same here FAM! My second fav is Blue & Grey 😁

WhatchaGot2Say

so glad i finally got to watch this, dis-ease is also still my favourite off of BE !

AJ

what docheb said, they explain things on there and they also have the song there so u can listen while u read, cause youre also missing the wordplay and double meanings^^

smol

Here's a great and more detailed translation of the song, including wordplay notes :) - https://www.google.com/amp/s/doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2020/11/20/dis-ease/amp/

I STAN THE GREATEST

Lyrics!!lyrics!THEIR lyrics!! never ceases to amaze me...and this song in particular and in these times...wow! thanks FAM!

AnghieHB

I have to agree! The wordplay is genius, per usual! Also, playing off of English and Korean. Like RM's verse I'm ill and I'm work. The Korean word for work sounds similar to "ill" I love it when RM plays with language like that. This song is so fun and spirit lifting, just like Hobi (and BTS)! Great reaction!

SKim

My absolute fave on the album! I also bounce up and down at the bridge haha! The wordplay in Hobi and RM's verses is really good, so make sure to check out someone like doolset for that sort of stuff if you haven't already for Dis-ease (which I know y'all do off camera)! It also gives a better translation of that last Hobi line: "Material things are a stun that my career gives me".

Akizato

I was waiting for this 💖💖💖

Castiela

LOVED IT. BTS FOREVER💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I💜YOU

Carlethia Street

Stellar

Pamela Platt

Bruh! Complete genius at work 🤓

WhatchaGot2Say

Yes! They always have the best interest of the people at heart and not afraid to go against the system COME ON!!!

WhatchaGot2Say

Oh very interesting! 🤓

WhatchaGot2Say

That's my favourite song on the album. The lyrics are incredible, and I particularly like Jimin's voice and runs on the track.

Good nights, always. And good days too. This song is a big and lovely ray of sunshine.

This is actually my 2nd favorite song on the album right after Blue Grey. I love all of their verses, but JHope's really hit me. When he says the line about eating 3 meals a day... I used to get so busy I'd be lucky if I even got in 2 meals. Now... I have so much more time that I don't have an excuse to not eat 3 meals a day and it's unnerving. The part where he talks about his sin is being the dog that bites himself while he's resting... It's like what Blaze said... When you have nothing to do and you have the chance to rest, but you feel like you should be doing something... You just feel guilty and get mad at yourself for resting because it feels like you're wasting time. It's like no matter how many times you tell yourself it's okay to rest, there's that part of you that's always running. Then of course RM's like, "that friend called rest. Oh, I never liked him..." It's so true! Then when he asks if it's the world or us... I most definitely feel it's the pace of society and most people never get enough time to actually think about things like this. But, as Suga said, it's easier to start by changing ourselves. Hopefully, as we do so, others will take notice, and slowly we can change the world, one person, at a time!

This song is 🔥 I'm listening Blaze. I truly am L💜

Delilah Rivera

My favorite as well. The bridge has to be the best thing on the album. Telepathy is a close second.

Marguerite Engel

One of my favorite tracks on this album. I think it stands alone fantastically, but it's even better when you put into context of the pandemic and where it sits in the album. The buildup to this song is a journey of all of these feelings that we experience because of our current situation, and for me, it's the final FU to the world and saying, you know what, I've got these feelings but I won't let them dictate me. I've been fortunate to work from home the past year, but it has definitely brought on some mental and emotional challenges. A few months ago I realized that productivity doesn't equal happiness or value, and my mental state is much better for it. I love the bridge in this song because that epitomizes that epiphany for me. Such reflective songs. These men and their team are brilliant.

lord help us on the day we get this live performance lol. it'll be something special, for sure !

unmatched... just unparalleled on this album. simply the best. and seriously a crown jewel even among all their recordings, not just those on Be. it's certainly risen somewhere into my top 15. btw, I think you know this? but just to be sure: this song isn't actually produced by j-hope. the entire idea for the song was indeed his and it would not exist without him, which is why he is listed first for writing/composition credit. the true producers, however—Ghstloop and Brasstracks—did an INCREDIBLE job, and almost certainly took a lot of cues from Hoseok's signature sound in order to make this sound so natural. Hobi might even have suggested it (though that's pure conjecture). I forget which one of you said it—I think Blaze? or maybe Nico—but you noted that out loud, in the Korean, it sounds like j-hope is repeating certain words in some bars. after reading the translations, you seemed to not think that anymore, but I am here to tell you that you were correct! he is indeed repeating himself, just like he is when he's saying the "dis-dis-dis-disease" (Korean: "byeo-byeo-byeo-byeong") at the end of the chorus. for instance, in the bar about being a resting dog, "dog" is actually the last word you hear: "gae." it's also the one he repeats: "g-gae g-gae." (the first word in that bar is also repeated.) right after that bar ends, the repetition in the new one is actually in English: "don't do that, th-that, th-that." so yeah, whoever caught that, good ear :) all the rappers' verses have bars with double entendres and other great wordplay/layered meaning, so I highly recommend heading over to check out some high-quality fan translations. Nico, I know you already do this, but Blaze, I think this would really get you way hype about how masterful your boy is with the wordplay. particularly the "I'm ill" line... it's pretty, well, ill.

curvy tangerine

Loved the song so relevant for now the boys know how we really are really feeling and aren't afraid to show that they understand.

Carol Kilpatrick

Fun fact: the word in korean 일 means both “work” and “one”, ans its pronounced “ill”. So when namjoon says “I’m ill” he is saying “I’m number one” “i’m work” and in english “i’m ill(sick)”

Sinia Lanza

Love the song. Is my fave on the album too... Also love your mindset on songs. If you're ever confused by lyrics and what they mean (because there sometimes is a lot of wordplay with Bangtan)... ARMYs beloved DOOLSET is always a great starting point for this. ^_~ And honestly "I will never fade away" is s great way to describe Bangtans value in our lifes.

Ka Ma

Nico typically also reads fan translations from Diminie (doolsetbangtan) or Wisha (doyoubangtan)'s websites. he just doesn't do it on camera. 👍🏻

curvy tangerine

Yass! My favorite song of the whole album. Hobi's song is so relatable since I needed to stop working for few months during the pandemic 😅 Hobi is such a genius for making this song ❤

I STAN THE GREATEST

Awesome song powerful message and they all killed it 👏 👏👏 I agree with y'all that's what I got from it as well

One thing about the lyrics is in the doolsetbangtan translation which I normally trust more than the lyric videos on youtube Suga's line actually translates closer to something like "400 different diseases of the mind" meaning something like mental health issues rather than physical health and then the next line is "there aren't that many who don't fit into any of those" talking about how almost everyone deals with some form or another of those types of issues in their life. Overall this song is definitely my favorite from the album it has so much lyricism and it's just a bop lol!

Sisi 77

The world is the disease but BTS is dis-ease (this ease)...

yeong lee

Jk uploaded his demo version of this song it’s short but you guys should check it out it’s completely in English and reeeeeaaallllyyyy good

Arzuhii

This my favorite song. It is a masterpiece. Jhope did amazing with the song and Jimin with the bridge. Glad y'all finally checked out the lyrics. This version, J-Hope's making version that he leaked, and Jk's version all are beautiful.

Victoria Mendez

The kings letting us know once again that capitalism and the mindset it breeds to work yourself to exhaustion is a disease! Glad you checked out the lyrics, hope you're all well! 💕

Rebecca D

I think in that verse where he is using a metaphor to describe his situation is to showcase that he feels as if he should be putting himself to work...a dog is resting (it’s relaxed), but it keeps biting itself or worrying so much because it feel like it should be doing something rather than sleeping. So, same as your analogy.

PM

Yes, my fav song!!!! Jimin's a genius for that bridge!!

Jada

Finally!! I have been waiting for this.. yay!
