Dear Patrons,
The final release for Bear 2.1 is imminent and it is time to announce few things :)
New hardware
As announced in my previous post, the official Bear 2.1 kits will come with custom Bear t-nuts and screws !
In case you missed the post, those new t-nuts are stiffer, smaller, have a quality thread, are resistant against corrosion, make the assembly easier and more importantly they do not damage the extrusions!
We have tested a lot of t-nuts on the market and we were surprised that none were matching our expectations. We have then decided to produce our own t-nuts but making them at an acceptable price is a big challenge! Thankfully, after some amazing work of LDO Motors here they are!
The Bear t-nuts are stainless to avoid corrosion and will be open source. The screws are also stainless and have a matte finish to better match our plates. They are also stronger than the old ones.
We are also going to sell official hardware upgrade kits containing this new hardware for people that want to upgrade from Bear 2.0 to 2.1. It will contain enough t-nuts and screws to swap all your printed parts.
Massive thank you to Jason from LDO Motors and his whole team for their excellent work.
Assembly guide
The assembly guide for Bear 2.1 is now available and I promise you it is a HUGE step from the previous one. The build process has been totally revamped to make it easier.

A big shoutout to David Ogles for his precious help to review the assembly guide! A special thank you as well to Bendix Sørensen, Florian Däubler, Josh Jones and Stefan Maue for their feedback and advice during the creation of this guide.
Potential down time next week
Starting on the 17th of August 2020, it might be difficult to access some files or information on the GitHub. I will update the GitHub repository to prepare the final Bear 2.1 release. Please be patient in case you have a link that does not work. This will only affect the development branch (dev) not Bear 2.0 (master) and will be temporary.
I am automating the release creation to avoid human error and to work more efficiently. The purpose is also to make the files and information easier to find. After the release, everything will be accessible via https://guides.bear-lab.com so searching through the GitHub will just be an old story :)
Enjoy!
Enjoy your Bear and I hope you will like the new hardware and guide!
