Bear X axis for E3D Hemera
Added 2020-01-22 19:42:20 +0000 UTCYou might have seen a teaser for the E3D Hemera I published today, here are some more details exclusively for you.
Current features:
- All wires go to the back like Prusa and Bear
- Will be compatible with stock Prusa and Bear
- Almost access to full bed surface (we should loose 8-10mm on X only)
- New Bear X ends are needed (more details below)
- Will have all features of the Bear X axis
- Take care of the cooling of the heatsink
- Will need custom firmware for MK2.5(S) or MK3(S) due to a different Pinda position. MK2S share the same Pinda position so no firmware modification required. On a Bear frame you could move the Z axis back and use Bear calibration firmware.
The new Bear X ends will come with few new features: more room for the extruder, increase stiffness a tiny bit, self center the X axis stepper, reduce risk of warping and maybe something else...
What still need to be done:
- Wiring of the Pinda is not easy (last picture) and needs improvement
- Wiring of stepper needs to be cleaner
- Designing a shroud
- Improving the look
- Developing a custom Prusa firmware for the Pinda position on MK2.5(S) and MK3(S)

2020-02-01 08:36:13 +0000 UTCI designed for a remote filament sensor if you want to take a look. Its basically the bear filament sensor but moved above the standard Prusa frame with a PTFE tubing connection under it. But it could be easily modified for a bear frame. Not sure if you tackled this or not.
