Life of a College Grad - Part 2
Added 2022-12-07 14:00:17 +0000 UTCMolly and Janice continued to share meals each night that summer, Molly always going to bed with a nice full stomach. She didn’t look at another job board for the entire summer, instead she lazied around the house most days. Come August, Molly and most others could see the end of summer off on the horizon, finally coming into view for the first time. She knew that meant she’d be back on the job search. Since she had the time she figured she would go through her wardrobe and find some decent interview clothes.
Only a few of her outfits were interview appropriate, as everything else was either sporty or ripped jeans and tee shirts. Grabbing one of the outfits she held it up and it looked a little small. In fact a lot of her wardrobe was a little bit small these days. The clothes certainly hadn’t changed, so it must have been the owner. That was true, after over two months of lounging around and taking advantage of her mothers meals, Molly wasn’t as much of a beanpole as she once was. Thickening up for the first time in her life, come August she was starting to sport a bit of starter belly.
It was then that her mom came by to check on her. “What are you up to dear?” She asked, poking her head into her daughter's room.
“Just putting together some interview outfits.” Molly replied with an obvious lack of enthusiasm.
“Well that’s great! Still not planning on job searching until the fall though, right?” Janice asked, coming fully into the room now. “I don’t want my beautiful daughter leaving me any earlier than she needs to.”
Molly scoffed at her over energetic and loving mother. “Certainly not if this is all I have to wear.” Molly pointed out the outfits she had picked out. “Look at how dated this stuff looks.” Her current outfits were not going to work out, but she was a bit reluctant to blame it on her weight at this point.
“Well that just won’t do.” Her mother joined her side. “Not a problem though. I’ll just give you some money and you can head down to the mall and pick out some new stuff.” Molly didn’t really want to buy new clothes, she felt like that was admitting she had packed on more than just a few pounds, but she didn’t have another option.
The next day Molly took the family car to the mall to buy some new clothes. Molly wasn’t a big fan of the local mall, it had become drab and run down over the years as online shopping boomed, but it was the best place to hit multiple stores at once, and Molly wasn’t quite sure what she was looking for yet. She pulled up to the big mall and entered its large hallway. She felt like she had to reorient herself because it had been so long, so she just started walking to see what's what. When she got to one end she turned around and headed in the other direction.
Halfway back she saw someone that she thought she recognized. ‘Is that Dakota?’ She thought. ‘No way, Dakota was pretty chunky in high school, but that chick is down right fat.’ The girl had her back to her, but as Molly walked by, brushing off the case of mistaken identity, the girl started to turn around and caught a glimpse of Molly.
“Molly? Is that you?” The girl was flabbergasted and shouting like she had just found her long lost twin.
“Oh my god, Dakota? I almost didn’t recognize you.” Molly left out the fact it was because she was so fat.
“It’s so good to see you.” Dakota was as cheery as always, even if her inflated tatas were still swaying from the motion of her turning around.
“You too!” Molly agreed. “I’m just back in town for a little bit with my mom while I search for a job. That’s actually why I’m here, I need to get something to look presentable.”
“Well we need to catch up. Shopping can wait, right? How about the two of us go grab a bite and we can chat?” Molly was kind of hungry, and it wasn’t everyday she ran into one of her good friends from high school. She was in no rush to shop either, she had all day considering she was unemployed.
“Sure thing!” They were only a hop and skip away from the mall food court where Dakota insisted on going to the sit down wing place. She ordered each of them 20 wings to start and a margarita.
An hour later they had both crushed 60 wings and a few drinks. They were both having a great time catching up, but Molly could easily see how Dakota managed to gain about 100lbs during her years at college. Dakota had moved back to their hometown to take a gig at a small insurance company. She liked the idea of working somewhere local and slower paced. Molly paid her half of the tab with the money her mom had given her. I guess clothes would have to wait for another day.
“We are going to have to do this again!” Dakota cheered as the two went to part ways.
Molly patted her full belly. “Maybe a few less wings next time.”
Dakota chuckled. “Nonsense, a girl is only worth her weight in wings.” Her double chin looked ever more prominent as she laughed. “Next one will be my treat, I know you’re still on the job hunt. How do you feel about BBQ?”
Molly's stomach clenched, she was so full she couldn’t even think of food. “Ask me again when I’m not so full.” She nervously laughed. The girls hugged, Molly feeling herself sink into the much softer and more plush body of Dakota. ‘I feel like I would rather die than be the size Dakota is now.’ Molly thought as she walked back to her car, nursing her food baby.
